Officially Was an AB onboard, due to my experience as the senior AB with other relevant course I have done, was asked to act as 2nd mate, since the vessel don’t have a mate as at when I was onboard.
Was happy I did my job satisfactory, the captain and the chief mate was happy with me, for the short period I worked with them.

Emergency Response and Rescue Vessel (ERRV)
Highlight
The responsibilities of that of the PSV and AHTS are same but few difference during anchor/towing
Operation. Because AHTS is being fitted with winches for towing and anchor handling operation, having and open stern to allow the decking of anchors, and having more power to increase the bollard pull.
We also carry out ERRV operation, when the need arises.
Key Responsibilities
Steer Ship on a steady course as a helmsman & maintains visual communication with other vessels/Ships and also rely on visual references, compasses and rudder angle indicator.
Steer ship under the direction of the ship commander or navigational officer on the bridge.
Standby wheel when vessel in on auto pilot.
Proper watch keeping from the wing of the bridge, to lookout for obstruction in path of ship as the lookout man.
Perform general maintenance, repairs, sanitation upkeep of working materials.
Maintenance of the ship such as, chipping scraping, cleaning, priming, and painting.
Proper security watches in the following areas as gangway or anchor watch while ship/vessel is not making way.
Proper Rigging and Slinging During Cargo Operation.

CREWING EXECUTIVE
Highlights:
In charge of BWGAS and NYK NLNG vessels in Nigeria (10 vessels in total), BW Offshore FPSO (Sendje Barge) in Addax field also in Nigeria and Farstard PSV and AHTS boats as a crewing executive, with more than 300crew members under my watch.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing of crew CVs for Employment/interview with instruction from the marine superintendent.
Intermediary between crew and principals.
Arrange for Visa, transportation and Hotel for crew member when necessary.
Book for courses/training when necessary.
Maintain crew tracking record to ensure timely availability of crew members.
Attend meeting with labour union for Salary negotiation for crew, based on Principal approval.
Arrange for crew change for crew members due for time off, with approval from the master of the vessel.
Visiting of NLNG vessels and FPSo for official meeting with vessel management Team (Captain, Chief Engineer and Chief Officer) for crew evaluation and also with the crew members onboard.
DECK Hand-AB) Steers ship & maintains visual,
MV Hondo River. Communication with other ships.
Steers ship under direction of ships,
commander or navigational officer.
Painting & Chipping rusted parts of the vessels
Stands by wheel when vessel is on automatic pilot.

Key Responsibilities
Preparation of Inward and Outward Clearance for Export vessels (Tankers, Bulk and Services boats) Before And After Loading with necessary Government Authorities.
Booking of marine pilot for both inward and outward sailing.
Booking/informing Government and port officials for inward and outward clearance of vessel on arrival and departure; either offshore or berth.
Attending berthing/Voyage meetings with Government officials and other shipping companies personnel’s
Preparation of SOF (Statement of Fact) as full Agent to the vessel and Terminal.
Communication between vessel, Owners and Charterers as full agent.
