Project Details
Title : “Inventory Control on Diamond Grinding Wheels”
Description: Kennametal is investing approximately 1% - 2% of its total turnover
on the Diamond grinding wheel, its total turnover being 500 crores. Hence
Inventory control on Diamond Grinding Wheel places a vital role. Suitable data
was collected from SAP software for past 15 months, we have classified the items
as Runners, Repeaters and Strangers based on the consumption patterns and
ABC model was built for the same.

Minimum, maximum and reorder point are suggested by using inventory control
methodology. Cost and space analysis is done by removing non-moving wheels
from bin. The expected cost savings was Rs.10, 42, 366 and space area reduced
was 203796 sq.cm.
