Project Experience

1. Understanding functionality of different modules which were getting migrated from Lotus notes to Java Server Faces and was in dedicated production support, sending reports to users and testing of the change requests in the first 6 months in the project.


2. Development in Oracle PL/SQL 10g for migration of modules. Use of queries, procedures, function, packages, collection and triggers were extensively used in development.

3. Since data getting posted from GESS end to HRMS, GNET and payroll team and vice versa Enterprise Application Interface team has to be involved. Have the knowledge how EAI team works.


4. Got opportunity in development activity with java server faces and J2EE. The GESS architecture also involves EJB and core java and follows MVC architecture. Due to the development activity got knowledge of end to end functionality of the system.


5. Being proficient in pl/sql and java part got additional responsibilities as team lead for the last one year tenure.
This role helped me in interacting with functional users, business associates, feasibility analysis, giving estimation for the requirement, resource mapping, attending weekly meeting and moreover enhancing decision making capabilities regarding project.


6. Since requirement analysis (sometimes requirement gathering also), development, code walkthrough, unit testing, make the code acceptable for performance testing and security testing as well as preparing all relevant documents for quality review have been done by us along with making the sql code and final deployable EAR ready gave an exposure to understand the entire SDLC phase with respect to a deployment.

7. Being quality lead of the project over two years tenure have maintained different types of metrics related to project so that to avoid slippage as well as keep the project in green.

8. Tagged as estimation reviewer to two other projects which helped me to understand estimation better.

Project Description
Ultimatix - Employee Self Service is an internal project of TCS handling some of the HR and some of the Finance related modules. These modules were developed long back in Lotus Notes technology. Due to the poor concurrency of Lotus as well as maintenance issue the same modules are getting migrated with Java Server Faces as front-end and oracle as back-end for the better user interface and easy maintenance. The modules are getting migrated to GESS (Global Employee Self Service) . GESS has interface with different teams such as HRMS, Global Net and payroll team through Enterprise application interface (EAI) team for fetching and posting data. GESS architecture is based on MVC architecture and supports JSF framework.
Development of a new module, deployment, migration of data from old system, production support and maintenance as well as enhancement related to new requirements are the primary activities in the project.
