Handle all aspects of HSE for 20, 000 employees in ME by providing support and guidance to the school operations on
health and safety matters. Handle 18001 and 14001 certification for all 48 schools (handled 48 different audits in 2017). Ensure effective reporting of all incidents by local Ops managers and Medical team, investigate and analyze incidents
for trends and provide feedback for reduction of LTI’s. Brought Rivo reporting system software and converted all accident/incident reporting and inspection/audits at site level
into effective measurable and ensure accurate capture of data on site. Presenting HSE Management reports across all schools monthly to VP HSE and other stakeholders. Work closely with the manager of school operations in order to raise the profile and standards of health and safety
across all schools. To manage and monitor findings from all work place inspections and H&S audits. This includes monthly H&S
inspections, weekly fire inspections, annual H&S audits etc. This includes ensuring that action points are addressed
within a timely manner and that on-going issues are addressed to the VP HSE Develop and deliver specific health and safety related training sessions to school staff. Facilitate the health & safety
professional development of Senior Leadership Team within the schools and their deputies. Monitor Health & safety compliance via regular school visits and attendance of school based health and safety
committee meetings. Support on the development and implementation of risk assessments within schools. Monitor HSE compliance throughout the schools in the form of annual HSE audits. Develop management reports based
upon the findings and monitor/support on open non-conformities. Support on the development of HSE policies and procedures and review existing policies and procedures Conduct HSE accident investigations and develop accident investigation reports for senior management. Support on
the implementation of corrective and preventative measures. Support of the development and on-going management of an environmental management system. Develop and implement environmental and sustainability initiatives throughout the schools.
Policy, Procedure & Practice: Provide advice to senior/executive management on H&S policy and procedure. Work with
operation/dept. Managers to develop and communicate MEISA wide H&S initiatives, policies and procedures. Support
implementation and audit of best practices in health, safety and environmental areas (including externally validated
systems, e.g. ISO/OHSAS) across MEISA. Design, collate and review H&S metrics and results, summarize findings and
recommend preventative actions for senior/executive management and wider Corporation
Dangerous Goods: Acting as Dangerous Goods lead and divisional point of contact for the wider Corporation. Ensures
the business within MEISA is compliant with all local H&S & Dangerous Goods regulations together with FedEx
corporate policies and procedures by compiling divisional information and developing recommendations on actions
needed. Leads the development & implementation of agreed processes to establish compliance.
H&S Investigation: Conducts thorough and systematic investigations into major accidents or incident claims within
MEISA. Documents findings and issues recommendations for senior/executive management. Ensures all required
documentation is completed in full and provided to external regulatory bodies in a timely manner.
Divisional project and taskforce participation: Advise and supports projects teams on H&S issues relating to key
divisional projects. Participates in project teams/taskforces to coordinate H&S activities for divisional projects as
required including business expansions, mergers and acquisitions. Represents H&S on MEISA Contingency taskforces.
External Regulations & Contacts: Act as a point of contact for external regulatory bodies (e.g. IATA, FAA, Dubai Airport,
GCAA etc). Lead/coordinates initiatives to research local country requirements relating to both current & future H&S
certifications and licenses. Develops recommendations on actions needed. Develops and maintains an appropriate
network of key business contacts within external organizations (e.g. F.A.A., Labor Inspectors, Safety Bodies, H&S
Conferences & comparable organizations). Uses this network to identify & influence potential changes, facilitate
change and resolve problems.
Internal Communications: Provide executive team with presentations on key strategic H&S topics. Defines, develops &
implements formal educational campaigns, initiatives, tools to ensure that FedEx employees, H&S committees, unions,
customers, external bodies, understand & comply with diverse types of H & S related requirements (e.g. dangerous
goods, safe working practices, use of equipment etc.) Works closely with MEISA Managers to ensure local alignment
with wide programmes and advises on country specific issues as appropriate.
H&S Training: Co-ordinate initiatives to identify, evaluate, design, develop & implement effective H&S related training
programmes/tools to meet the evolving needs of the business within MEISA.. Summarizes & evaluates the effectiveness
of current training initiatives and recommends appropriate actions to ensure ongoing effectiveness. Advises, develops
and mentors peer colleagues within H&S team.
Professional Expertise: Develop and maintains a broad knowledge of MEISA H&S & dangerous goods related legislation,
practices & trends together with a good understanding of the current and future business needs. Translates this
knowledge into recommendations for specific tactics & plans which take account of financial, legal & human impact,
and are supported by objective, accurate & factual data, to aid the business & limit potential risk.
