Design Manufacturing Test Equipment for Apple products (AppleWatch, iPhone, iPAD and accessories)

Main Responsibilities:

 Understand Unit Under Test (UUT) working and generate test plans and fixture HW requirments
 Co-ordinate with and manage test equipment vendors to design the fixture HW and SW
 Bring up fixtures during different phases of product design cycle and make sure FTR (Factory Test Readiness)
 Create and maintain Test Station BOMs and Station Software on factory servers
 Analyze data from factory test results and take action to rectify fixture related issues during builds
 Work closely with cross functional teams (Design, Ops, Project Management etc) in China and US for fixture related activity

Main Achievements/Projects:
Completed the full product development cycle for two Ballasts with Step Dimming Feature (T8 and T5 High Output lamps) with annual volume exceeding 50Kpcs each. The ballasts were intended for North American market with support for Universal Mains Input (120-277V), High PF, Low THD and Energy efficiency complaint to latest DOE standard.

 Platform selection and circuit design for PCHW products like Wireless Mice/Keyboard and Webcams.

 Perform necessary EE circuit simulations.
 Plan PCB layout and mitigate any risks before the program kick off.
 Support the Design Verification and Compliance teams at different phases of the program.
 Co-work with other functional teams (DVE, ME, RE, NPI etc.) for system level design.
 Work with Chip vendors for best component selection and design.
 Work with Contract Manufacturers/OEMs during the program to review the designs and solve issues.
 Prepare and conduct System and Hardware/FW Architecture reviews for the program.
 Fully engage in Prototype, EV, DV and PV phases of Product Development Cycle.

Main Achievements/Projects:
Completed the full product development cycle for a BT3.0 Keyboard and Mouse from POC to mass production, with annual volumes in excess of 100K units.

Manager Hardware 01/2005 - 11/2010

Main Responsibilities:
 Manage a team of engineers for project execution.
 Interact with clients to understand their specifications and keep them updated on project status.
 Prepare project feasibility reports and cost analysis of prototype and series production.
 Manage design documentation and technical writing.
 Carry out field testing and troubleshooting.
 Propose circuit level design to engineers and guide them in design, simulation and implementation.
 Component selection, procurement and testing.
Main Achievements/Projects:
 Successfully completed projects worth 220 million RS in my last 8 months at AKSA.
 Designed a 280W Switching Mode Power Supply with 06 outputs. The design included the topology selection, transformer design & construction and feedback control. The power supply had to meet the EMC/EMI and other safety requirements. Forward Converter topology was employed with current mode control.
 Designed a MIL-STD 810E compliant, 115VAC 400Hz, 8-output Switching Mode Power supply to be used in HUD (Head Up Display) system of F7P aircraft. This replaced the older linear power supply which was bulky and less efficient.
 Re-engineered a highly complex Graphic Controller Card used in RoseI/II Mirage aircraft’s HUD system, originally manufactured by GEC Ferranti. The card was re-designed on an 8 Layer Hybrid PCB (Rogers4003+Fr4 Hi-Tg) over full Military temperature range of -55 C to +125 C and vibration/shock compliant o MIL-STD 810E.

Hardware Design Engineer 05/2002 to 12/2004

Main Responsibilities:
 Design the key modules for the Error Correction Engine based on Reed Solomon CODEC and test using MATLAB .m file scripts. Prepare complete Simulation in MATLAB of the final Error Correction Engine.
 Design Hardware units for the Implementation of the Error Correction Engine using Verilog HDL. Test the individual units in ModelSim. Tailor the Hardware for maximum efficiency.
 Design the Hardware Board for the HDR including the Analog Front end and the High Speed Digital Interface based on Dallas 89C420 Microcontroller.
Main Achievements/Projects:
 Implementation of interleaved shortened Reed Solomon Codec RS(255, 239) for use in the High Density Magnetic Card reader.
 I was the key member of the team to design the complete Error Correction System to be used in our client’s High Density Card Reader Prototype (ISO-7811-7).

FPGA Core Engineer 04/2000 - 04/2002

Main Responsibilities:

 Design, implement and test various DSP/Digital Communication Modules (FIR/IIR filters, Cordic Processor, Viterbi Codec, FFT etc.) in Xilinx FPGAs using VHDL.
 Design the basic hardware modules and test at the bit exact level in MATLAB/Simulink.
 RTL coding of the tested hardware using VHDL.
 Test pattern generation using Scripts and MATLAB/C.
 Synthesis and Functional/timing simulation of the design and device specific implementation using Xilinx Foundation Series Design tools.

Note:- Chameleon Logic was acquired by AKSA in 2002
