Operate and control equipment like circuit breakers, transformers, and substations remotely to manage the power flow.

Quickly identify faults, outages, or abnormalities in the distribution network and take appropriate action to resolve them.

Analyse faults or disturbances within the distribution network and carry out troubleshooting to identify the cause of the issues.

Manage outages, plan for restoration, and assist in repair efforts, minimizing downtime and disruption.

Document faults, outages, and corrective actions taken. Provide detailed reports for management review.
•
Review system performance data to track efficiency, identify trends, and recommend improvements.
•
Use data from system performance to plan maintenance schedules and minimize unexpected failures.
•
Analyse energy losses in the system and suggest ways to reduce them.
•
Ensure that all activities are in compliance with local regulations, safety standards, and environmental policies.
•
Implement and follow strict safety protocols when operating and maintaining equipment.
•
Work closely with other engineers, field crews, and control centres to ensure smooth operations.
•
Provide technical support to field teams, helping them with complex distribution system issues.
•
Participate in projects to enhance or upgrade distribution networks, including testing new equipment or implementing automation technologies.
•
Ensure load balancing across the network to prevent overloading and underutilization of resources.
•
Control and optimize power flow to reduce losses and maintain system efficiency.

Implement and manage automation systems to increase the reliability and efficiency of the distribution network.
•
Train and mentor junior engineers or new staff in operational procedures, control systems, and troubleshooting.
•
Keep abreast of new technologies and trends in the energy sector, especially in distribution systems.
•
Regularly provide reports on network status, faults, maintenance, and improvement efforts to management.
•
Maintain records of maintenance, upgrades, and system performance for future reference.
•
Respond to emergency situations and work to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
•
Coordinate with emergency response teams and communicate with local authorities.

Supervise Monitoring the system operation and ensures the safety, reliability and security of the electricity generation and Transmission network, by supervising the entire electricity supply process from the Dispatch Centre of Duqm State Grid (Oman), as an outsource engineer working with Tanweer distribution company Staff by using SCADA
•
Review switching programs in distribution systems and give approvals for executing according to Electrical safety rules issued by the company.
• coordinate, and assist activities involving switching, maintenance, and operation of the electrical power system
•
Directs the switching operations by giving instructions to field engineers for switching in the Transmission network and primary substations for commissioning activities.
•
Issues Permit to Work (PTW), Sanction for Test (SFT), isolation & earthing certificates and other safety documents as per requirement for work in the field and ensures appropriate safety standards.
•
Identifies and reports any faults that may occur as observed from the control room.
•
Attends to system faults and takes the necessary proactive decisions to restore the system back to its normal working conditions (in case of power failures) at the earliest.
•
Participates in the preparation of technical and statistical reports on a frequent basis to keep management and other internal stakeholders abreast of TANWEER CO network performance.
•
Make load flow studies for operation to ensure Reliability and Stability for the Systems.
•
Make Daily load schedule and load forecasting for the DUQM state Grid.
•
Maintaining log sheets.
•
Keeping the system live-avoiding unnecessary tripping.
•
Ensure efficient and reliable operation of all equipment’s.

Maintenance & Support Activities
• Maintenance of 110kV yard equipment and related panels.
• Maintenance 110kV Substation, Power Transformers and Station Auxiliary Transformer.
• Maintenance 110V DCDB panel, battery charger and battery bank.
• Trouble shooting of HT and LT panels, electrical related issues.
• Testing of Power Transformers, CT, PT, LA and different Relays.
• Maintenance of HT and EHT Switchgear like VCB, SF6 circuit breakers.
• Substation electrical maintenance scheduling, planning, executing like Daily, weekly, quarterly,
monthly, and annually.
• Maintaining & ensuring of consumption records of electrical consumables, technical documents
related to operation and maintenance, various logbooks, shift registers.
• Maintaining records of Electrical spares of various equipment.
• Supervising and monitoring the tasks involved in power cable, control cable maintenance and laying
and commissioning.
• Preparation of estimates and bills of various substation related works
