Served 9 years for GE Jenbacher Gas Engine division as an efficient CAD 2D/3D design engineer in various engine area like Air Intake system, Exhaust system, Cooling system, Crankcase, ConRod, Base frame etc. with manufacturing processes like Cast, Forged, sheet metal, piping, fastening & welding. Worked on Cost out, NPI, Reverse Engineering & Engine assembly projects. Type of engine 2 MW to 10 MW power plant engine gas operated. Supported manufacturing operations & fulfilments. Also acted as a focal for PDM/PLM & ERP data management and IT management within the department.
Projects & Accomplishments.
Cost Out Projects: As a team player worked/ leaded design of Casted part and sheet metal parts of the engine namely Air intake system, Exhaust system, Damper covers, engine brackets, CLAIR system J9 TCA frame. Designed from concept level as per the CTC/CTQ point including 3D/2D models/drawings, BOM, assembly model on CATIA V5 with DIN, PED, ASME GD&T quality standards. Released complete system in PDM & ERP system. Contributed in savings of approx. Avg. cost/ year reduced between US$0.1 million to US$0.5 million.
NPI Projects: As team member worked on J9 Vortex engine NPI project for design of Air Intake system parts, and frame design for Turbocharger Assembly. Started from scratch as per the market need & efficiency of power. Developed complete 2D/3D models & drawings, System BOM, release PDM and manufacturing BOM. Created new ERP data base for all child parts, sub-assemblies and main assemblies and released in Oracle ERP.
Reverse Engineering: Leaded the project to re develop complete piping assemblies for water, air and oil system for all types of Jenbacher Gas engines as per PED guidelines and CTQ requirements. Regenerated approx. 4000 pipe parts, 2000+ sub piping assemblies and 100+ main system assemblies. Drawing have been updated as new DIN, ASME and GD&T standard from manufacturing. Also includes re-release of all new system in Smarteam PDM and Oracle ERP system for data control and manufacturing purpose.
PDM/PLM & ERP: Leaded project of complete PLM database migration as Indian focal with GE Austria core team. Supported them in complete migration process India team data base in new Smarteam PDM. Also acted as UAT team member for Oracle ERP testing and Implementation team in Austria. Once after successful implementation of PDM & ERP system become admin for India system. Trained complete team on new PDM & ERP system.
Design process & guidelines: Being six sigma fellow, developed the macro tool on CATIA platform with VBA language to reduce lead time to create basic steps in 2D drawing creation process with zero defects in operation. Also developed 3D macro template to create standard straight pipes & bend pipes by using design table. This has reduced 30% of project lead time hence increased the efficiency on quality of deliverables. Tool got 100% usability in team. Apart from this also developed standard operating manual and guidelines for Smarteam and Oracle ERP release system.
