Job Profile: Vmware and Windows Administrator
Role: Working as a Vmware and Windows Administrator
Responsibilities:
• Manage the servers located in different regions of the globe. The Major regions
supported are United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Latin America, the
Caribbean and parts of the Pacific region, Supported more than 50000 servers,
Managing Virtual/Physical Servers -- Virtual Infra Client and VMware / Hyper-v
Servers.
• Maintain NT, 2000, 2003, 2008+, 2012 Windows, VC, ESX, ESX-i Servers, Virtual
Machines (Windows, Linux) Data Stores, Clusters, Citrix Xenapp with all new issues
raising on a daily basis, Part of global team providing level 2 and level 3 remote
support for 2300 Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008 servers.
• Analyze Application, System, Security logs for troubleshooting. Installation and
Configuration of IBM Tools on all Windows Servers.
• Monitor ticket system for any incident ticket, respond and work on resolving the ticket within SLA metrics, Ensure that the SLA agreements with the client
are maintained.
• Providing Solutions for HIGH CPU Utilization and Memory Consumption, Maintain
Disk Space Standards according to the requirements.
• Installed security patches in the time frame, generated change
management tickets for getting approval from the application owner and business units for installation of the patch, Perform Server Activation and Deactivate
activities.
• Perform monitoring and troubleshooting of Windows 2000, 2003 and 2008
servers, Active Directory, DNS-Configure Microsoft Failover Cluster and Network
Load balanced Cluster and resolve Cluster related issues.
• Configure Group Policies at Organizational Unit and Domain level as per
Agreement with Customer. Administering Novel servers and E Directories
• Provide security patching and upgrades for all servers on a monthly basis, Perform
quarterly Health Check on servers to ensure Security Compliance.
• Service Request, Incident, Problem and Change management utilizing
Maximo, Maintain and create documentation for the project, handled problem
tickets and Root Cause Analysis Reports, Participate in audits and reviews
• Raise Non Compliance Incident in case of Compliance issues and follow to closure through change management process.
• Developed variety of batch scripts, VBScripts and Perl scripts to automate server
administration and to rollout security settings throughout the enterprise.
• Troubleshooting the VM machines using Virtual center and VMware Infrastructure
Client. Troubleshooting VM ESX hosts and guest servers. Creating and deploying templates, Working on the VMware (Hands on: Cloning, Template,
Snapshot, Migration, Up gradation, Installation, Monitoring) Take of whole patch
activity in ESX level - Upgrade Manger
HARDWARE EXPERIENCE:
• Good understanding of SAN (Storage Area Network) and have hands on experience with configuring from Windows server end, troubleshooting SAN connectivity issues with IBM (DS3000, DS5000, DS7000) / EMC Powerpath and Emulex,
• Hands on experience in datacenter, Raking / Assembling the servers, Replacing bad parts, Analyzing hardware diagnostic reports, Hardware experience on IBM x series, IBM Storage DS3k, DS5k, DS7k, DS8k (Enterprise), HP, Dell server
• Worked on datacenter migration projects for airtel/uid/tulip/ntt datacenters
Disaster recovery project for Tata communications and doctor reddy labs
• Worked on VMware Site recovery manager (SRM) for disaster recovery plan (Cloud/Physical DC) - Created complete setup (end - end) till production.
Capacity planning:
• Participating on proactive work for future awareness
• Doing capacity planning for critical server (Application, Database server)
• Giving recommendation if any CPU/Memory/Disk is in high alert
• Conducting meeting with the Clients for future awareness of the performance issue with the help of the tools data
• Analyzing (Disk/Memory/Cpu/Network/Processor Utilization) for all historical data, With this giving best suggestion for migrating servers,
