•Overseeing operations in Shimanzi Oil Terminal (SOT) which serves Kprl with fuel oil, diesel, LPG and petrol discharge and back-loading.
•Carrying out Conditional monitoring and preventive maintenance
•Supervising early oil pilot scheme projects in KOT
•Ensuring compliance in permit to work system and strict adherence
•Health safety and environment compliance and enforcing safety procedures
•Training and development
•Identifying training needs specifically for Process Operations, and where applicable for other employees at the Kenya petroleum refineries crude processing
•Preparing prior learning assessments and lesson plans for employees
•Contributing to the research and development of training materials and ensure that the content is both relative and supportive of the Course and the Training program
•Scheduling and delivering safe and effective timely training.
•Training, mentoring, and coaching operation employees in the safe, effective, and productive operation of crude refining processes
•Training, mentoring, and coaching maintenance employees in the safe, effective and productive operation of required support mobile equipment
•Training, mentoring, and coaching employees in required safety systems and programs required for the respective occupation
•Evaluating employee performance and report findings to the Process Operations Department and the employee
•Providing follow up and refresher training to employees in their area of work/job (safety and job specific)
•Ensuring all training is in compliance with legislative requirements, and in conformance with company policies
•Researching and developing standard operating procedures and best work practices for the company and for the area of responsibility
•Training, mentoring and coaching employees in hazard identification, risk assessment and in reducing that risk to "as low as reasonably achievable"
•Developing a training plan for each employee and monitor that plan for conformance
•Updating employee records (electronic and hard copy)
•Preparing and up to date "semi-monthly" reports on employee skills to the Process Operations and Reliability and Maintenance Departments heads
•Participating in various committee and team meetings related to the development and enhancement of employee skills
•Developing training tools such as job aides to meet specific operations needs

•Handling plat forming/reforming units and kero/ago hydrotreaters
•Plant technical operations and its running
•Starting and stopping equipment’s e.g. pumps, compressors
•Omc transfers, internal and external transfers
•Tank and transfer monitoring
•Tank gauging, sampling and stock taking
•Ship handling
•Control room operations and dcs operations

•Oil movement operations
•Inventory management
•Inflow and outflow of inventory continuity by timely receipts and exits
•Continuity of ship discharge receipts and mainline feeding of hydrocarbon
•Line packing and line flush operation
•Truck loading operations and intra tank transfers

•Root course analysis and troubleshooting of failed equipment’s and machines e.g. pumps and compressors
•Vibration checks and conditional monitoring

•Gas freeing of plant by use of steam, air or water or nitrogen
