a) Proposing base design for the sub-station as per IEEE, IEC, SEC Std. involving the following aspects of base design:
Ampacity Calculation, Grounding Calculation (Step Voltage & Mesh Voltage), Sheath Voltage Limiter (SVL) Selection, Surge Arrestor Rating, NGR Sizing, Transformer Sizing, Capacitor Bank & Detuning Reactor Sizing, Short Circuit Rating, Number of incoming & outgoing breakers
Validating the base design through analysis like Load Flow Analysis, Contingency Analysis and Short Circuit Analysis for Ultimate, Maximum or Minimum Fault Level and Dynamic Analysis
Leading all activities related to:
Reliability calculation of sub-stations
Project technical specification, detailed scope of work review, checking the BOQ, estimation and creation of Scope of Work, Power Supply Implementation Agreement & Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)
Preparation of 5 years Capital Budget Plan, 10 years Capital Budget Plan and Load Capacity Analysis for Bulk Supply Point (BSP) & sub-stations
Developing & maintaining strong channels of communication with different divisions & other government entities
Drafting the cost estimate / revised project cost estimates of the project
Liaised with contractor and different departments of the company / outside company so that project can be completed on time
Rendering technical assistance / support to various work teams to increase the work pace
Working on various system studies (Root Cause Analysis) of different issues faced by SEC network such as:
Methods to enhance short circuit capacity of the sheath of Underground Cable
Appropriate value of the Detuning Reactor installed in series with Capacitor Bank
Causes for the Failure of the Capacitor Banks installed in the SEC Network
Motor starting issue in one of the plant in Jubail (customer owned)
Voltage regulation of the underground cables
Low voltage problem in Waad Al-Summan Area
Highlights:
Overcame economic, technical challenges during the completion of Jubail Substation diversion project
Implemented several measures to identify deformities or abnormalities like Sheath Sizing, Short Circuit Calculations
Recognized for increasing in-process capability by implementing revised detuning reactor value; appreciated for the same
Pivotal in streamlining processes through measures such as direct co-ordination with the Consultants, Contractors
a) Developed 2 electrical pumping stations and 4 storage facilities at the stretch of 470 Km pipeline to manage sweet water all the way from Taif to Ad-Dhuhi (nearby Riyadh for the government client)
Created the Electrical Emergency System including Generator Sizing, Solar Panel Sizing (for remote facility) and Battery Bank Sizing
Drafted Single Line Diagrams & Equipment Layout Diagrams for 2 Pump Stations and storage facilities; proposed Generators for generating electricity as there was no electrical power supply to those locations
Devised the cable routing drawings and duct bank drawings
Designed electrical grounding network for aforementioned facilities
Worked on standards like National Electric Code (NEC), Saudi Electricity Company Standards, IEEE and IEC
Validated the modelling of Design Aforementioned Pumping Station & Storage Facilities Electrical System using ETAP (Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis and Motor Starting Analysis)
Facilitated the designing & sizing of electrical cable to feed the electrical power from source sub-station to the client sub-station and design the electrical system downstream (the client sub-station were furthermore developed the Fire Alarm System) using SABIC, Royal Commission and SEC standards
Checked the design with ETAP by conducting Load Flow Analysis, Short Circuit Analysis & Motor Starting Analysis
Executed General Engineering Services Projects of Saudi Aramco using Aramco standards
a) Involved in various research projects with the Professor.
b) Involved in the team that comprises Professors, Lecturer B and Master students in order to develop a MATLAB program to bid an optimum amount in dollars for a "Electrical Power Block" from an Utility Company when various other competitors are bidding at same time.
c) Composed and made statistics to explore possible key points need to be focused when bidding for a 'Power Block' in an Utility Company.
d) Developed and studied the 'Impact of the PHOTOVOLTAIC Generator when directly connected to the Grid'.
e) Complied the results and presented the paper in 'IEEE CIGRE-Jeddah' with Dr. Ibrahim El-Amin as the First Author and me being Second.
f) Developed a program to design and operate 'Active Filters' to filter out Harmonics from the Electrical Network.
g) Conducting the Electrical laboratory sessions for undergraduate students .
h) Assisting the Professor in grading.
a) Managing and executing the work according to electrical single line diagrams and equipment layout drawings .
b) Managing the team Supervisors, Foremen and a team of Charge hands, Technicians.
c) Developed a unique way of awarding the sub-contract to the sub-ordinate team with a sole purpose of saving the total Man-hours consumed for the job and it paid off by saving the revenue of the Company and was verbally appreciated for the achievement in the farewell meeting.
d) Coordination with external vendors and participation in various meetings and reviewing the design for the system.
e) Updating the team of Consultants about the progress of the work and quality of the material used.
f) Handling of quotations and comparison of the same with the data bank of quotation.
g) Keeping track of the progress and reporting same in the meetings with the Client and Consultants.

i) Trouble shooting the faults in the wirings and rectifying it with the help of MEGGER test etc.

d) Moreover I worked mainly as Site MEP Coordinator, thus taking care of whole MEP drawings and informing respective Engineer about their work according to the site.
e) Estimating various items required in Electrical, Fire Alarm and Fire Fighting services.
a) Electrical services and installation of the Main Switch board, Sub switch board and Distribution box.
b) Assisting in the Maintenance of Electrical Installation like Sub Stations and Earth Fault relay testing.
