IBM & Westpac signed a strategic multi-year multi-billion dollar IT Outsourcing deal to ensure the overall technology remains current and viable for existing needs and future growth. This resulted in an ongoing pipeline of highly critical Business initiatives as well as complex Transformation, Transition and Technology Refresh programs throughout the bank.
I have been an Integral part of the management team responsible for the design, development and governance of a very large and complex Enterprise PMO along with an effective feedback mechanism to keep it highly efficient to support Service Delivery and Project Delivery side of this complex Outsourcing deal worth over $400m a year, one of the largest IBM outsourcing account in the world.
Responsible and accountable for the governance, growth, delivery quality, collaboration, coordination, status reporting and point of escalation for my Portfolio within the Enterprise PMO - managing 27 RFS (Request for Service) ranging from $150k to $6m, managing 40 FTE and over $30m budget. I have been recognised as champion contributor, educator and enforcer of project discipline and maturity as well as someone with a command of softer skills in customer relationship management, priority negotiation, stakeholder management and being an effective communicator.
Day to day activities included but not limited to - for:
• Portfolio Growth:
o Identify opportunities and initiating customer contact.
o Obtain base funding for Requirement gathering and to conduct Proof of Concept
o Overseeing preparation of Statement of Work (SOW), quality check solution, resource identification and getting commitment from cross-functional management for resource availability for solution delivery
o Formally handover to Program / Project Managers for solution delivery
• Portfolio Governance, Controlling & Directing:
o Identifying templates, documents, process flow and reporting requirements for each RFS based on $value & complexity and conducting regular Quality Assurance reviews
o Tracking financials & resource utilisation to make sure project are run highly efficiently
o Providing Portfolio support through Group and One-to-One meetings with each Program and Project Manager, conducting education sessions to emphasise project management discipline across the board eliminating costly rework
• Portfolio Monitoring & Reporting:
o Consolidate, Prepare & present Portfolio Status Reports on Resource Utilisation, Financials, Risks, Issues & Inter-dependencies
o Attend Customer Steering Committee meetings, program meetings and management briefings
o Prepare performance reviews of resources with recommendations of Awards, Recognitions or performance improvement suggestions
o Inspire, motivate, provide direction and manage performance of large globally dispersed teams by providing coaching and ongoing mentoring

I was hired by IBM as Senior PM to support the strategic IT Outsourcing Agreement with Optus. I was an integral part of management team that established the Enterprise PMO for the outsourcing account.
• Integral part of the management team that successfully achieved the CMM Level-2 for Project Delivery Maturity and Discipline - a contractual condition imposed by Optus
• Managed Atlanta Express, for Corporate & Business Elite customers generating over $3b revenues

Immediately after joining the bank, I took overall Operational Control of technology portfolio that includes major IT Projects, bank-wide Computer Literacy Program, Operational Control of Enterprise Data Centre, Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Planning and management of 41 direct reports. At the time the bank was among technology laggards and was facing serious business crisis. I was the key member of the Executive team that turned the bank around.
It was a major change initiative that involved Strategic Planning, Refocusing the business, Re-structuring the whole organization and a major IT Transformation drive to support and improve upon the business processes and customer services. This lead to the design and development of IT enabled business programs and projects that positively impacted the business bottom line tremendously.
