From May 2011 till present -Gulf Data International (GDI): Gulf Data International (GDI) is an IT systems integrator, founded in the United
Arab Emirates in 1983, and currently operating from seven offices across the
Middle East and North Africa (MENA), including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Beirut and Cairo.
GDI delivers solutions in systems integration, enterprise resource planning,
corporate performance management and systems development. GDI also
delivers vertical solutions in transport management, manufacturing and asset
management.
In Charge of: • Managing IT infrastructure and 9 Servers in 4 office locations;
• Solely maintaining and supporting 85+ user and office devices in company, sister company and remote users;
• Working with procurement staff to purchase hardware and software & assesses functional needs to determine specifications for purchases;
• Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks;
• Managing the internet connectivity with the ISP;
• Managing Help Desk and Network Operations staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients;
• Assisting staff in setting up mail account on mobile devices;
• Providing Training and orientation to staff on the use of hardware and software;
• Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults;
• Replacing parts as required;
• Providing support, including procedural documentation;
• Interacting with numerous computer platforms in a multi-layered client
server environment;
• Installing and configuring computer hardware operating systems and applications;
• Ensuring desktop computers interconnect seamlessly with diverse
systems including: Associated validation systems, file servers, email
servers, computer conferencing systems, application servers, and administrative systems.
• Setting up new users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password
issues;
• Prioritizing and managing many open cases at one time;
• Rapidly establishing a good working relationship with customers and other professionals (e.g., software developers);
• Testing and evaluating new technologies;
• Conducting electrical safety checks on computer equipment;
• Working with vendor support contacts to resolve technical problems with desktop and Servers;

Accomplishments/Projects: - Upgrade of Mail Server and Active Directory
The company and sister company were sharing the same hardware IT
environment that was composed of very old hardware and software, which led to a critical situation and data corruption with no backup or disaster recovery
solutions. I persuaded management to upgrade this environment with a each
company having a new and separate Exchange server, Active Directory and
Backup solution. I managed the purchase of the hardware and software as well as managing the implementation partner as the technical decision maker.
- Implementation of Network in relocated office
One of the offices relocated which required a full implementation of the network and telephone infrastructure. In the first phase, I implemented the
cabling and network points and telephone system in the temporary offices.
In the second phase, I designed the infrastructure and managed and supervised the implementing company for the permanent offices.
