A full-time Emergency Room Nurse in a government, tertiary hospital with a 200-bed capacity treating all types of diseases and injuries among employees of the Ministry of Interior, both civilian and military along with their families; with 35 ER bed capacity and a nurse-patient ratio of 1:3, with the following duties and responsibilities:

• Triages each patient and determines priority of care based on physical, psychological and social needs as well as factors influencing patient flow through the emergency care system
• Performs focused assessment of chief complaints of each patient in a timely manner according to established triage guidelines
• Prepare the patient for various investigations like X-Ray, ECG, Ultrasound, CT Scan, etc.
• Assist in various procedures like intubation, chest tube insertion, internal jugular, NGT and foley’s catheter insertion, etc.
• Collection of samples, evaluate and record the results
• Maintain barrier nursing techniques and prevent cross infection
• Cleans and bandages wounds
• Initiates corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology
• Manages basic life support needs and stabilizes patients until the attending physician is available, based upon nursing standards and protocol

A full-time Emergency Room Nurse in a private, tertiary hospital with a 200 bed capacity treating all kinds of diseases and injuries; with 8 ER beds and a nurse-patient ratio of 1:4, with the following duties and responsibilities:
• Quick assessment of patients’ injuries or condition upon reception, then places them in a
prioritized order in which they are seen by the doctor
• Follows nursing process in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluation
• Insert and operate foley catheters and nasogastric tubes, monitor intake and output, IV
insertion and other nursing procedures
• Assists in minor operations such as emergency internal jugular catheter insertion
and wound suturing
• Administer medication in various route, blood and blood products
• Assists in intubation or endotracheal tube insertion
• Assists physician in codes and provides advanced cardiac life support for medical
emergency and cardiac arrest
• Demonstrates professionalism in interactions with patients, physicians, nursing, staff and
other patient care members and co-workers
• Has critical thinking to intervene with appropriate intervention
• Remains calm under duress
• Carries out the plan the doctor prescribes; explains any discharge instructions to
patient and family and prepares them to take over care at home
• Understands that long work hours are part of the job
