AkzoNobel is one of the largest producers of chemicals used in paints, detergents, foods, plastics, cosmetics, construction, pulp and paper, pharmaceuticals, electronics, agriculture and for producing petroleum products.
Identified potential biopolymers and presented proof-of-concepts for developing specific chemicals during the first 18 months. Planned a project and leading the team evaluating possible routes for producing new bio-based product. Initiated valuable industrial collaborations boosting conceptual development. Supervising multiple sub-projects in collaboration with academia.
Fibre and Polymer Technology at KTH is the largest academic institution on native and synthetic polymers in Sweden.
Successfully designed feasible methods to extract high molar mass hemicelluloses from spruce wood prior to pulping. Described multiple effects of diverse processing conditions on the structure of extracted polymers. Established new characterization methods on chromatographic instruments benefiting the entire department. Developed wood-impregnation methods to protect specific polymers in the later stages of Kraft process leading to improved pulp quality. Started various collaborative projects across different disciplines resulting in popular publications.
