My primary functions are to organize the Unit Operations laboratory sessions, supervise the students while performing the experiments, correct and grade their reports and oral presentations, and to keep the laboratory and equipment in good operating condition. However, my passion is research, and reaching my personal goals requires more biotechnology related work.
Purification and characterisation of proteins (Chicken Serum Albumin and α-livetin from egg yolk) using gel filtration, ion exchange chromatography, and HPLC, and verifying the purity using SDS-PAGE and isoelectric focusing.
The education included a B.Sc. in Food Science and Technology and four months of practical work at the Institute of Food Research, Norwich, UK. The theoretical part of my bachelor project resulted in the writing of an article for the journal Food Additives and Contaminants, August 2005; 22(8): 743–751 The Danish grade system differs from others, but my GPA is equivalent to an A-. In my Master thesis I explored methods (in practice and theoretically) used for characterising antibiotic resistance in two lactic acid bacterial strains.
