As creative director I was responsible for the creative output of the agency, which involved managing and directing a team of designers and international freelancers. I write my own copy, design websites,
conceptualised content and lead creative workshops.
I ran my own web design company servicing SME's as well as collaborate and consult with a major South African content publisher on a variety of their publications.
Having started as a senior digital designer, I was quickly promoted to Head of Ideas where I drove innovation, ideas and a culture of
proactivity in the agency. My role also involved identifying new business opportunities for current and prospective clients.
My role involved integrating our clients’ online and offline offerings,
which involved everything from TV ads, websites and direct mailers.
I also supervised a creative team as well be account manager on
some of the smaller accounts.
Having started out as an art director, I quickly went from that to
writing copy for our clients and later getting more involved with
campaign strategies and client service.
Conceptualising and implementing ‘Through-the-line’ advertising campaigns for our respective clients, which included financial, retail, automotive and FMCG.
Market intelligence, trend-spotting, brand and communication strategies focused on the South African youth market.
Word of mouth marketing, product testing and grass roots research would all form part of my job.
