In this project, I will be constructing the design of the mechanical systems that are needed in Beirut high rise building located in Beirut. The mechanical systems that will be worked on includes: firefighting system to prevent fire hazards, ventilation system which insures a flow of fresh air inside the car parking and building, and finally the heating system. These systems are designed based on standards and codes for the safety and comfort of the residents of the building. Moreover, we will take into consideration the constraints that will affect us, such as ethical, economic, safety, and time constraints. For the design of these systems, we will use AutoCAD software for the drawing of the design in every mechanical system, Ductulator for ventilation systems, and Elite software for the firefighting system calculation. Finally, we will also use excel sheets in order to calculate the heating loads for the design of the heating system, the firefighting, and the ventilation systems in order to provide a proper pipe and duct sizing design, also to choose the optimum equipment. The design of the mechanical systems is based on the international codes of ASHREA and NFPA. Finally after designing all of the mechanical systems mentioned above, we will select the suitable equipment for each system which includes pumps, boilers, fans, sprinkler, heating and cooling units.
