Mechanical Testing of Veterinary Orthopaedic Implants Collaboration with Orthomed (UK) Ltd, producers of veterinary orthopaedic implants. • Compared performance of the novel design against market competitors in several loading modes. • Provided recommendations to Orthomed about possible methods for improving next design iteration. Heating Energy Requirments for a Room over 7 consecutive Days • Developed a spreadsheet-based calculation scheme for electrical heating load required to maintain a constant internal air temperature in a room within a building. The Wiggle Board • Designed a creative exercise machine for an eleven year old boy suffers from Total Amelia, that is both easily mobile and safe to use. • The design consisted of a 4 wheel board that has limited angle caster wheels on the back, the board can be propelled using the twisting motion of the rider. Tool-Wear Milling • Reviewed the most common tool-failure modes and wear mechanisms. • Designed a schematic of a feasible integrated tool-condition monitoring system with the CNC machine and the operator. Use of non ferrous alloys in modern engineering system • Reviewed and discussed the use of non-ferrous alloys in the manufacturing of Hockey Sticks. Controlling NOx Emissions from Diesel Passenger Cars • Reviewed and Investigated the current state, and prospected for the future of technologies for control of NOx concentration in emissions of diesel passenger cars.
