The work I done with Tata Steel makes up the industry part of my experience. I worked in a team of 3 people; the management accountant, assistant management accountant and my posistion which was the accounts analyst. As a team we complied monthly management accounts for the Tubes Energy section within Tata Steel UK Limited.

The main priority of my job was to work out what the production credits were each week for one of the pipe mills on site, the 42" pipe mill. This was constructed using information recieved from the employees from works records. Other duties included keeping an up to date stock book for both the Pipe stocks and Plate stocks, raising sundry sales on a monthly basis, constucting and maintaining an engineering spend spreadsheet which showed actual spend against budget.

During month end I also had other tasks to perform which included working out the production credits for one of the other pipe mills on site, the 84" mill. This was only done at the month end because the volume of production was small in comparrison to the 42" mill. Other duties during month end included compiling the sales for the 42" and 84" mill, posting journal vouchers and dealing with ad-hoc duties which are given to me by the management accountant.

I was also involved in 4 stock takes at my time with Tata, 2 for the pipe stocks and 2 for the plates stocks.

My work at Gilchrist Tash was the practice side of my experience. The main part of my role was to produce annual accounts for different types of clients ranging from Sole traders to Limited companies and Charities. This included compiling monthly cash books, income and expenditure, compiling the balance sheet for the period, keeping the fixed asset register up to date and compiling tax computations.

The other part of my job role was to to out to clients and perform audits on their accounting systems. It was my job to assist the audit manager in all the tasks needed to complete the audits. This included systems testing, bank reconciliations, fixed asset physical verification, stock takes and accrual and prepayment analysis.

I was also involved in a couple of stock takes for different clients.
