Study on Barriers to Medication Use in Type 2 Diabetes among people of Kerala. The focus was on socioeconomic classification of people and identifying barriers in each class as the hospitals visited by each class and their environments created different barriers. The cost of illness was also taken into consideration as cost of drugs was a major barrier for adherence to drugs. Patients in Upper socioeconomic class has the lowest level of barriers to medication use as they were given counseling and pharmacist support to tide over barriers. Better education opportunities always helped patients overcome barriers as it improves understanding of illnesses and drugs.
