I have been Promoted to the rank of Associate Professor
Working for the faculty of Computing and Information Technology as assistant professor. My duties include: teaching different courses as well as doing research work. I am also the head of IT department for north Jeddah campus.
Working for the faculty of Computing and Information Technology as assistant professor. My duties include: teaching different courses as well as doing research work.
I worked for the faculty of Information Technology. My main duties was including: teaching different modules related to Computer Networking such as: Introduction to Computer Networks, Wireless and Mobile Networks and Information and Network Security. Moreover, my work at the faculty includes collaborating with some colleagues in a number of research studies.
Worked for the faculty of Science and Technology. I designed and developed a LBS system that provides end users with new services on the move, anytime, anywhere. Many projects were conducted at the faculty including: mobile technologies, GPS accuracy, Mobile networking and Mobile Database. In addition, I had the chance to teach undergraduate student some modules such as ‘Databases’ and ‘Wireless Networks’.
2003-2006: Orange Telecom, Jordan (Systems Administrator)
Worked as a systems administrator and head of section, responsible for supporting the Human Resources and Payroll systems. During this period of time, many challenging tasks had been completed such as: data migration from a legacy system to a new purchased one, and applying new polices for salary polices every six months.
1998-2003: Orange Telecom, Jordan (Computer Programmer/Analyst)
Worked as a member of a team of computer programmer, and then a team of analysts.
We were involved in supporting a range of systems including customer services systems, local line network systems, financial systems and payroll system.
1996-1998: Orange Telecom, Jordan local/International Switching Technician
Worked as a member of a team of Switching technicians involved in supporting a group of local switches and the international switch. Responsible for a range of tasks including system operation and maintenance, and general office work.
2006 - 2009 Anglia Ruskin University, United Kingdom PhD in Computer Science. (Mobile and Wireless Networking) My research focus was on establishing an enhanced location based services (LBS) system. Current LBS systems still experience several weakness points related to each one of its components; in terms of wireless networks, this kind of communication channel still suffers from lack in bandwidth, particularly when many users are accessing the mobile network. In terms of mobile devices, several limitations are acknowledged: memory size, battery lifetime and processor capabilities. Moreover, LBS Database server is the main data container which hosts huge volume of geographical information to be accessed by user's mobile devices. It is essential that the database should be managed and accessed in an efficient way, otherwise unnecessary processing time and delay might occur which can contribute in reducing the efficiency of the whole LBS system. My research work seeks to establish an effective mechanism in managing the database and the data-flow within the system which contribute to minimizing the amount of data transferred over the mobile network which can significantly assist in minimizing delay and packet loss with the purpose of enhancing the performance of the whole LBS system.
