Engineering Fellow at Engineering Research and Development Center, Seoul National University
  • Korea (South)
  • My current job since December 2014

As a engineering fellow I delever lecturers on mechanical vibration, pump, fan, compressor, HVAC and etc. to design, field and O&M engineers.

MEP manager at Mott Macdonald
  • Pakistan - Islamabad
  • December 2015 to October 2016

During this period I provided MEP construction management services as lead consultant on New Islamabad International Airport. My job covered building MEP work including passenger terminal building, pump station, M&E Power building, substation, HVAC control, IBMS, interface with airport management system and etc. The project was design-build contract. I reviewed design analysis, specification and drawings. I reviewed and approved material and drawing submittal, Q/C, supervise field installation work. I controlled MEP work progress as well.

Field Engineering manager at Hanwha E7C
  • Kuwait - Al Kuwait
  • May 2013 to October 2013

I worked as site field engineering manager for 6 months on problem-solving and trouble-shooting on a design-build liquid propane gas (LPG) filling plant for Hanwha Construction Co., Ltd. The project scope included 20 buildings. I reviewed the HVAC construction design for compliance with Kuwaiti codes and standards for energy projects. I prepared submittals for HVAC equipment and materials and responded to reviews by the Client’s engineer. I supervised production of shop drawings and composite drawings for fabrication and coordination. In the field I supervised construction work. The contract was FIDIC based and I reviewed contractual terms & conditions for potential claims.

Research engineer at KUSTA, UAE & KAIST Korea
  • Korea (South)
  • August 2011 to July 2012

I joined the KAIST-KUSTAR joint research project on energy conservation in air conditioning in Abu-Dhabi, UAE. I conducted surveys on energy consumption in various countries and applied those findings to analyze energy consumption in Abu-Dhabi suggesting technical strategies to reduce consumption by 30% in air conditioning systems.
Major points of this technical strategy included applications from the Energy Policy Act of US Government (2005). I performed load calculations, systems analysis and energy evaluation by Carrier HAP46, one of two worldwide commercially used HVAC software packages.

Design manager at Hudigm A&E
  • Korea (South)
  • March 2009 to June 2012

The US Army relocation from Yongsan in Central Seoul to Pyeongtaek south of Seoul is a major project of value $15B. On this design-build contract package I designed the underground gas distribution pipeline network over a site of approximately 24 square kilometers. I utilized gas distribution formulae from UFC-3-430-05FA for flow capacity and friction loss calculations. Size of main pipe was calculated at 20 inches. Length of main line from the pressure regulator to the end tap was 4 miles. I modified CP calculations.
Attachment # 4

I tailored the mechanical specification of Unified Facilities Guide Specifications (UFGS) using SPECSINTACT for elementary and high school. I tailored sections 13.48 Seismic Protection, 22.00 Plumbing, 23.00 Air Supply, 23.05 TAB, 23.07 Thermal Insulation, 23.08 Commissioning, 23.23 Refrigerant Piping, 23.52 Boilers, 23.64 Chillers & HVAC Piping, 23.81 CRAU, 33.51 Gas Piping, 33.61 U/G Piping and 40.17 Welding for Elementary and High School (425, 000sf). For the US Army in Korea.(2009~2010) I interpreted and instructed design criteria package, ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007, ASHRAE Standard 90.1-2007, US Design Codes and Standards, UFCs, US products. I interpreted comments by the reviewers of KCPMC, FED, POD and prepared reply for YRP elementary and high schools. (2009~2010)

As engineer of record I provided oversight to the design, design review and sign-off of design for the military training center and children’s development center.

In this same period I undertook a training course for Carrier E20-II HAPv4.5 software in Chicago. I took classes for Load Estimation, Energy Analysis and LEED and received the completion certificate. In my work I have used HAPv4.5 software for reviewing load estimation, hourly analysis, energy budget and LEED on the YRP Elementary and High school projects. I also managed and supervised design, procurement and equipment installation on projects such as office buildings, condos, hotels, schools, stadiums, auditoriums, industrial buildings and military facilities.

MEP manager at Shin Sung
  • Singapore
  • May 2011 to September 2011

I worked as HVAC construction and enginering manager for a Rolls Royce Marine Propeller manufacturing plant in Singapore. This was an HVAC system and clean room facilities.
