scope of Work
Responsible for the development of good relationship and servicing the insurance requirements of large corporate clients in Dubai;
Arranging various project covers for the large clients and ensuring the placement of risk with reputed insurance companies in UAE;
Understanding the clients’ trade, scope of activity and their insurance needs to design & arrange for the best fit insurance covers for them
Managing the client’s annual Insurance Calendar- in line with the changing market trends, change in business activity- newer, better products in the market;
Team management- Ensure achievement of set targets through existing business retention, growth and new client acquisitions
• Handled the underwriting of Property, Engineering, Accident, Marine and Liability business.
• Ensuring Line Profitability and Growth through assessment of risk in order to determine whether the business should be accepted or rejected
• Relationship Management with existing clients, maintenance of the renewal calendar and ensuring timely renewal of all existing policies
• Liasoning with the sales team and with sales representatives of Broking companies for various business proposals;
• Reviewing and revising existing policy coverage, schedules and policy wordings to bring them in line with customer demand, changing market trends and the company’s internal guidelines
• Approaching the reinsurers for quotes where FAC support is needed in case of high sum insured and special lines of business
• Monitoring documentation of policies and ensuring correctness and compliance with internal guidelines
As Administrative Officer, reported to Chief Manager, Marine (Cargo) Claims Department and to Assistant General Manager directly. (2004-2008)
Handled the entire Marine Cargo Claims Portfolio (Export and Import) at Corporate Office level and settled major claims. Independently handled various Cargo Claims starting from registering he claim, checking & scrutinizing various documents, drafting claims notes and making correspondences.
Handled General Average Claims - issuance of GA Guarantee/Salvage Guarantee, Settlement of Company’s share of Contributory Value of GA, maintaining Outstanding General Average Provisions and Coordinating with the Statutory Auditors at the time of GA Auditing.
Maintained the list of various Overseas Settling Agents and handled settlement of the survey fees, settling fees etc.
As Internal Faculty, I handled classes on “Marine General Average Claims” for new Officers during various Marine Insurance Workshops.
Also assisted in framing Company’s Underwriting Guidelines for Marine Cargo Portfolio, to comply with IRDA (Insurance Regulatory Development Authority of India) regulations.
As Senior Underwriting Assistant in operating office, handled entire underwriting process - risk selection, analysis, acceptance/ avoidance, generating documents like policies, endorsements, clauses etc and maintaining records and reproducing the same during renewal and for claims processing.
Worked in various underwriting departments including Technical Vigilance Department of Head Office for four years.
