Field geologist and geotechnical soil investigation on field
Responsibilities:
* logging different types of samples of soil include (disturb sample,
undisturbed sample, and rocks, like Core recovery, RQD) and make
a decision for the SPT test apply on this site or CPT)
* testing on samples like (proctor, Grain size analysis, Unconfined
compressive strength, compressive strength, point load, field
density test and compaction test) when the sites are off.
To maintain all the operations of Mintech Resources like the
processing material and export of chrome ore from Pakistan to
China and Japan. Chrome ore exports from Pakistan can be
classified as either metallurgical grade or refractory grade.
Approximately 90% of these exports are constituted of
metallurgical grade while the rest is contributed by refractory
grade.
Our company has been supplying quality chrome ore for over a
decade now. Our exports account for 10% of total chrome exports
from Pakistan. All of our metallurgical grade chrome ore is
exported to China. In addition, we have been supplying refractory
grade chrome consistently to refractories in Japan, China and
Europe.
The internship is an excellent opportunity for me to learn to gain
experience and prepare. Men learn through experience and real life is full
of different kinds of experiences. I study different things like the first of
all literature review on mining, types of mining, environmental impacts on
mining, future market of mining, mineral exported from Pakistan, and
comparison between exports of minerals in Pakistan and also make a
presentation on it. After that learn about mineral deposition, the process
of mineral deposition, styles of mineral deposition, mineral deposit
terminologies, and types of mineral deposits and make a presentation on
it. After that work on the ArcGIS software for making different types of
maps like (infrastructure, drainage patterns, cultural maps, metallic
nonmetallic minerals, energy power plants, mineral processing sites, DEM
digital elevation model, water shade analysis, etc.). Learn about wireline
logging like (resistivity log, density log, sonic log, GR log) and also some
study about mud logging and understand the responsibility of well site
geologist. I was also studying the metallogenic process of plate tectonics
and seismic survey, magnetic survey, and some study of geophysical
surveys. I also learned some knowledge of reserve estimation and basin
analysis. I have also visited the well site at Shahpur Chakar
Well experience this is a very grateful life experience. On the well site I
was studying the rig systems, and rig components, and also working with
the petrographer on how we can collect the sample, how we can wash the
sample, calorimetry test, tray sample for microscope study, sample
packing, and how can write the description of sample like (color, texture,
grain size, % of lithology). Also, study the calculations methods of lag time
annular time of drilling string.
