Study & Analysis of Resin Infusion Process for Thick Curved Panel - (Final Year Project)
This project was done as a final year project proposed by SUPARCO under the supervision of Chairman Polymer & Petrochemical Engineering Department NEDUET. The theme of the project was to determine the infusion process potential for manufacturing of thick composite laminate through VARTM technique. VARTM process is dictated by Darcy’s law which includes pressure difference, permeability as key process parameters. In this project, number of infusion strategies were simulated using PAM-RTM 2010 infusion simulation software. Fibers used were noncrimp multiaxial and biaxial having orientation values of 0°, 90° & ±45° while process strategy included the use of multiple resin injection points. Using 100/25 resin/hardener ratio and optimum infusion strategy, experimentations were carried out. Filling times in experiment & simulation were compared and found to be 42 min & 45 min respectively. A side by side comparison of flow front position vs time in terms of both experimentation and simulation was also performed to validate the simulation software for the project and to achieve the desired part thickness of 35mm.
An Efficient, Low Cost Vacuum Forming Unit for Packaging of Commodities - (3rd Year)
The project, An Efficient, Low Cost Vacuum Forming Unit for Packaging of Commodities was accomplished in order to get knowhow of Vacuum forming process. It is basically a prototype project which was designed for the production of an efficient and low cost vacuum forming units in Pakistan. As China, USA and other European countries are in the business of manufacturing and exporting these units to underdeveloped countries. This small, light in weight and easy to use unit can be used for R&D work, for laboratory purposes, for prototype & as a small business unit. If these types of units are made in Pakistan there would be an increase in job ratio for engineers, technicians and labor.
Pak Oasis Industries (Pvt) Ltd. was established in 2004 with the aim of providing access to clean and safe drinking water and sanitation facilities for the people of Pakistan.
