Technosphere Energy Services is an Engineering company specializing in Power Stations, Mining and Manufacturing. It was founded in 1984. The biggest satellite site is at Hwange Power Station where it is contracted to maintain stage 2 boilers for the Zimbabwe Power Company. Technosphere’s is the African agent for Doosan Babcock of England.
Key responsibilities
• Maintenance planning and spares management.
• Continuous improvement of overall equipment effectiveness (availability, quality & performance) by implementing Total Productive Maintenance principles supported by 5s.
• Managing CAPEX projects.
• Quality Assurance and Quality Control and IMS administration
• Human resources administration and cost control
Selected Achievements
I managed the major overhaul of a 220MW boiler; the project was worth millions of US dollars and it improved availability from 75% to 95%. I also implemented a planned maintenance program resulting in the organization migrating from Reactive maintenance to Preventive maintenance and hence reduced downtime by more than 60%.

Helcraw Electrical provides service and manufactures Power Generation and Transmission equipment. It was founded in 2002. Helcraw is a sole African agency for companies which include Crompton Greaves (India), Cooper Power Systems (USA), Ansaldo (Italy), APT Power (India).
Key responsibilities
• Managing CAPEX projects
• Assisting Sales and Marketing on technical issues during tendering.
• Design, installation and commissioning of equipment.
• Administration of SHEQ management system for the organization.
Selected Achievements
I cleared non-conformances for the Projects department in preparation of ISO 9001 certification, prepared business operating procedures and advocated for a culture change. I also successfully planned and executed several capital expenditure projects which were finished on schedule and within their budgets.

Dalfoam Engineering is an engineering company involved in servicing of steam generation equipment. Dalfoam has had contracts with companies such as Greenfuel, Zimbabwe Power Company, Tongaat Hulett e.t.c
Key responsibilities
• Project planning, execution and control.
• Preparation of Boiler repair procedures
• Preparing job quotations and tendering documents
• Budgeting, monitoring and trend tracking project costing
• Supervision of team members on site.
Selected Achievements
As a Junior Engineer i managed to quickly grasp the concept of project management and also developed an understanding of the Factories and Works act including the statutory requirements for boilers. I also managed several boiler overhaul projects being the lead person on site.
Company Description
Tongaat Hulett Hippo Valley Estates is located in the south east low-veld of Zimbabwe. The company grows and processes sugarcane into raw, sun-sweet and white sugar, with a capacity of 300 000 tons of sugar per annum. It has a 46MW power-plant with 6 boilers. The company employs 9000 people and is NOSA, OHSAS 1800 and ISO 14001 certified.

As an intern I managed to marry theory learnt at University and practical at Tongaat Hulett Hippo Valley and that earned me a distinction during final assessment.
Final year project: Design of an Online Condition Based Maintenance System for a Cane Shredder (Rotating Equipment).
