Ensure high technical and engineering standards and effective performance of power networks and systems up to 69 KV in the eastern province.


Projects management (Yearly 2 Billion S.Riyal) being responsible for execution of all Major Customers projects / System Improvement projects at voltage (33-69) KV. Responsible for construction works in the area including cable laying, O/ H erection, substations and customer connections in the area at voltage (33-69) KV. Responsible for installation of energy meters for Major customers. Responsible for ihe contractors and their Pre-qualification. Resolution of site problems.

Accountable for the cost-effective management of the isolated generation plants (36 sites), up to 50MW installed capacity in one site. Monitor performance of isolated power plants from technical and engineering standpoints, and, plan and implement scheduled maintenance for these plants to ensure good performance. Ensure that all isolated generation plants are operated at optimal costs. Coordinate with Transco and Distco’s engineering groups to connect these isolated power plants to the network in order to reduce operational and maintenance costs.

Plan and implement maintenance, system planning, improvements and other similar large projects to facilitate high quality distribution of power and electricity. Provide overall support on technical aspects, operations, maintenance, engineering and construction to the operating area through engineering expertise and timely decisions. Drive and direct the engineering of large jobs, asset relocations and system improvements within approved guidelines. Review criteria for reinforcing existing distribution networks.

Coordinate with System Control and Protection Engineering on equipment, protection schemes, maintenance standards and policies. Prepare effective contingency Plan in case of Protective equipment failure to resume the system to its normal conditions in the minimum time.

Coordinate IT services including SAP, AMM( Apply Meter Management), DAS( Distribution Automation System), GIS ( Geographical Information System), and FFMS( Field Force Management System ). along with ensuring the infrastructure compatibility of connections and size. Ensure that areas have the required technical support and support IT and Telecom applications and develop operating areas needs. Study and evaluation of technical offers of the tenders preparation and setting of protection schemes, coordinate inspection and testing of materials.

Evaluate all Distribution materials and equipment submittals by vendors to ensure they are up to approved specifications and standards.

Review organization structure and process related to the area of operation, initiate and review studies and implement changes to optimise workings of reporting functions.

Lead the process of capital budget preparation (annual and five-year time horizons); ensuring the budget plan reflects the business strategy set for the Operating Area. Ensure effective management of contractors working on distribution related projects for the Operating Area.

Review system requirements (past trends and future estimates) in order to carry out system planning at regional level, ensuring that key parameters such as cost and capital requirements are considered. Lead the planning and decision-making on new projects related to electrification. Plan, Engineer, design and costing of all Major customers new supply projects of medium tension networks underground and Overhead lines with 13.8 KV system.
