•Researcher at Research Alliance for Disaster and Risk Reduction (RADAR), Stellenbosch University (2015).

•Departmental liaison at the Society of South African Geographers Student Conference in Johannesburg (2015).

•Tutor for undergraduate and honours students (2014 & 2015). Responsibilities included assisting students with research projects, setting tests, marking tests and assignments and other administrative tasks.

•Teaching assistant for lecturers (environmental geography and tourism). Responsibilities included lesson planning, providing technical assistance and accompanying students on field excursions (2014 & 2015).

•Research assistant for professors and PhD candidates in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies and the Faculty of Education (2012-2015). Responsibilities included assisting researchers with the construction of research instruments, fieldwork and data capturing.

•Involved in the organisation, administration and running of academic conferences (2012-2015).

•Served as examination invigilator during university examinations (2012-2015).

•As part of my Honours study, I took part in various weeklong field excursions to conduct group research projects. The first field excursion (Urban Analysis and Synthesis module) was to analyse local economic development within Bredasdorp and assess the interaction between local government and local art and craft industries namely Kapula Candles. The second excursion (Disaster Risk Studies module) was in Doringbaai to assist in gathering data for a community risk assessment of the local fishing community for the Matzikama Municipality.

•Library student assistant, JS Gericke Library, Stellenbosch University (2012 & 2013). Responsibilities included assisting and teaching fellow students and other library clients in using the Library and Information Service systems, resources and printers as well as all other applications on the University computer network. I was also responsible for answering other general library queries, referring library clients to faculty librarians when applicable and performing various administrative tasks, e.g. physical preparation of books for shelving purposes.
