As a Business Manager for Latin America responsibilities include overseeing the implementation of Degremont’s Equipment and Services department in Latin America.
Degremont portofolio of equipments include filtration systems, classical compact water treatment plants and waste water treatment plants, reverse osmosis, disinfection trough UV and Ozone systems, etc.
Duties include business development and elaboration of proposals, definition of commercial strategies, contract negotiation, operation management, assessment and services deliverance.
Also responsible for elaborating the department’s Business Plan, definition of investments (CAPEX) on the medium and long term, control of operation costs and project financing and risk management.
Responsible for market prospection, client interaction and development of new business, and projects.
As a Project Manager my present responsibilities include overseeing the construction of a large industrial water treatment plant in the main Petrochemical site in the North of Brazil. Duties include contract administration, establishing close working relationship with client, designers and sub-contractors, monitoring financial performance, prioritising project value optimisation and cost minimisation, ensuring procedural compliance of sub-contractors and suppliers.
Also responsible for preparing risk assessment reports for identification of project threats and opportunities and preparation of contingency/mitigation/recovery plans and managing design changes by carrying out formal design review meetings.
As a Project Manager my responsibilities included overseeing the running of important water supply related projects, directing and managing a team of professionals (i.e. project engineers, technicians and field technicians) . Also responsible to liaise with Clients, elaborate financial and managerial reports, elaborate project budgets and guarantee project deliverables on agreed time and costs.
As a Team Leader for Glasgow and Edinburgh my responsibilities included the representation and promotion of Atkins Distribution Networks (DN) in Glasgow and Edinburgh, promote Client relationship and identifying business opportunities in the area. Also responsible for the coordination and management of DN staff in Edinburgh and Glasgow.
Responsibilities included tender evaluation of public procurement of works and consultancy (studies, supervision)
Auditing and supervision of contracts for large works (site evaluation, timetable, monitoring of works, budget control and allocation, etc.)
Assessment and monitoring of the National Master Plan of municipal systems for drinking water distribution and sewerage collection.
Elaboration of the technical-economic feasibility studies for the water supply system to Luanda Sul (Angola) which included infrastructure costs, asset evaluation, technical solutions for water supply systems, investment forecast, etc.
Responsibilities included the management of the Department's day-to-day activities and the management of a team of 15 professionals (i.e. project engineers, technicians and field technicians) . Also responsible for the Department's budget forecast and control and the elaboration and implementation of a series of water leakage control related project 9i.e. metering, fraud control, District Metered design establishment and operability, pressure management, etc.)
Provide technical assistance to the Management Control Department by aiding on the elaboration and improvement of managerial and commercial mechanisms and reports.
Wrote academic papers for the World Water Council on issues concerning the regulation of Private Sector Participation (PSP) in water utilities and also provided assistance to the on-going research at WEDC on Public-Private Partnership.
Support AdP, the Portuguese Government and the United Nations on the organisation of the water and waste sector in East Timor by elaborating training programs and courses for future East Timor Government water sector employers, organising time plans for documents to be handed to the United Nations and allocating available budget.
Trainee Engineer
Training and performance of relevant tasks on construction supervision of the local sewage network and pumping stations and the design of the future main sewage treatment plant.
Water, Engineering Development Centre (WEDC), Loughborough University (Loughborough, U.K.) The MSc course included a wide number of subjects relating to water and waste engineering (ex. groundwater development, urban and rural water supply management, wastewater treatment, environmental assessment, etc) . The MSc. Individual Research Project concerned Regulatory Mechanisms for the Regulation of Private Sector Participation (PSP) in Public Water Utilities in Developing Countries.
The course included subjects relating to environment (i.e. environmental impact assessment, tropical health engineering, ecology, etc.) and civil engineering (i.e. structural mechanics, soil mechanics, surveying, hydraulics, materials, engineering mathematics, etc.) . The final year project included an overview of sanitation issues in developing countries.
