•Preparation of reconciliation schedules to organize the monthly accounting process and come up with financial statements and then report to the school board on the school’s financial position.
•Preparation of the school’s annual and quarterly budgets
•Managing the school’s debtors by making follow up on students with debit balances.
•Management of the school’s creditors, by making sure that creditors are paid in time and making sure that the payment methods used are not too costly to the organization.
•Management of the school’s payroll, by making sure that employees are paid on time and correctly.
•Making sure that statutory payments are paid and remitted in time, this included PAYE, NSSA, and NEC
•Ensuring all Human Resources policies and procedures comply with legal and regulatory requirements by keeping up to date with any changes made by the regulatory bodies such as NEC.
•Monitoring and supervision of all accounting staff by ensuring that the organization's finance procedures and policies are adhered to.
Achievements:
•Hired IT specialists to make the business financial system accessible remotely and the system server hosted on the cloud. This reduced inefficiencies as the finance team were able to work from home during COVID19 lockdowns, it also improved information security and enhanced Business Continuity.
•Setting up internal controls for the school to improve financial processes and efficiency.
•Formulating Policies and procedures following external auditors’ recommendations.
•Facilitated the Implementation of Microsoft Office 365, to replace the illegal pirated Microsoft Office.
•Conducted training on the school’s procurement procedures and the budgeting process.
•Introduced bottom-up budgeting to get buy-in and acceptance of the budget from the entire organization.
•Managed to reduce the schools’ debtors by 60% after implementing tighter control measures which includes frequent follow-ups.
•Initiated income-generating projects so that the school will not depend on tuition income alone. The projects included poultry farming where we are keeping batches of 2500 birds and generating an income of US$5000 per 3 months period before expenses
