DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Research, analysis, formulate, Monitor and evaluate the technical and strategic employer's OHS positions regarding standards and statutory guidelines and regulations
• Project-manage an inter-disciplinary (Engineering/Legal/Educational/Safety/Medical (SHEQ)) team involved in the new OHS Integrated Legislation & Compensation System
• Participate in Strategic Planning, Business Planning (for business Unit); Formulation of KPAs, Indicators, Quarterly Operations Plan
• Co-ordinate and train employer representatives involved in the MHSA regulatory review processes
• Represent the mining industry employers on the Mining Regulation Advisory Committee (MRAC), established in terms of the Mine Health and Safety Act (MHSA)
• Conduct Audit Safety, Health and Environmental at Quarries & Mines
• Convene the broader high-level policy employer caucus on health and safety (OH&SPC)
• Establish and maintain electronic databases and archival systems
• Prepare quarterly reports on OH&SPC performance review
• Disseminate OHS information and other communiqué (make presentations, write letters and reports)
• Convene Mechanical & Electrical Engineers Caucus for input into OHS Regulations, SANS Standards & Guidelines
• Caucus Secretary for employers in achieving the Mine Health & Safety Council (MHSC) Secretariat that is compliant with PFMA
• Prepare employer position papers for input into external OHS policy discussions, e.g. BUSA
• Engage professional associations, MIASA and other international structures regarding OHS
• Prepare monthly reports on OHS contribution towards the lobbying and advocacy efforts of the Chamber of Mines
• Organise 2005 Employers' OHS Summit, biennial MHSC Summit & Chamber's Sustainable Development Conference
• Build the OHS Network
