Planning and Maintenance Engineer at K Electric Limited (Formerly: Karachi Electric Supply Company)

• Responsible for the planning, scheduling, supervising and execution of preventive, routine, corrective and breakdown maintenance of rotary and stationary equipments includes steam and gas turbines, large pumps, air and gas compressors, large boilers (680 t/h), pressure vessels, heat exchangers, oil and water tanks, Hydraulic Couplings, Valves, and different purifiers.
• Overall supervision of the plants having 210 MW Power generating capacity with Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of equipment malfunctions and failure.
• Leading a team of 12 Fitters and 14 helpers to ensure on time job completion.
• Design reviews, Modification and Performance tests of above mentioned equipments as per ASME, ANSI, IEC, ISA, API and NFPA Standards.
• Prepare technical evaluation of rotary and stationary equipements according to the requirement.
• Inspection and selection of parts by reviewing its drawing, experience and installation.
• Prepare reports which include shutdown reports, daily activity report, weekly maintenance report, yearly department achievement report, technical reports of equipment, monthly report (KPIs), overhauling reports, and annual budget reports, SAP reports, Safety Reports and other work system reports.
• Plan, Identify and procure the items including spares, tools, consumables and others.
• Prepare purchase requisitions and provide technical justification for the required equipments and parts.
• Plan and develop new methods to improve the station operational efficiency and reliability.
• Supervise startup, Synchronizing, Loading rates, Shutdown of the unit, & handing over for maintenance requirements.
• Responsible to provide on job technical and safety trainings to the staff to compose a strong team.
• Costing and budgeting of all requirements in the areas of unsatisfactory performance, rectification and improvement in performance of the system and plan yearly budget for mechanical department.
• Using CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) to improvise the maintenance, performance, record keeping and system effectiveness.
• Preparation of outage plans according to load demand and plant reliability, testing of data analysis, KPIs monitoring.
• Condition based monitoring which includes Daily and Weekly Vibration Analysis of all the 6.6 KV auxiliaries of Power Plant including Centrifugal pumps, Motors and Forced Draught & Gas Recirculation Fans using IR thermography, FTIR, Thermal Imaging etc.
• Weekly and Monthly Performance Tests and calculations of steam turbines, boilers and other major
Auxiliaries.
• Prepare daily generation statistics sheet according to NEPRA standards using Access.
• Support continued development and improvement of performance Parameters, tools & processes.
