Provide effective financial leadership in finance department and gives full support to the top management of the Group in providing quality financial information which enables strategic foresight into the business. I have ownership of the following task:
• Financial Planning and Budgeting: Co-ordinate with different departments to develop annual budgets, monthly quarterly forecast cycle for the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow statements.
• Financial Analysis: Analyze Group’s financial statements to identify financial risk, potential weak areas and develop solutions. Perform variance analysis with budget, prior year and industry standards along with meaningful commentary. Perform general business analytics including growth initiative, pricing, divisional costing, promotion, commission, department and product profitability. Prepare financial aspect of business proposal and analyze projects for investment with feasibility study and suggestions.
• Financial Accounting and Reporting: Review and reconcile existing accounts with the team to compile financial information. Responsible for Monthly, Quarterly and Yearly Closing in the ERP System. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of divisions, cost center and regions profitability.
• Taxation: Significantly involved in VAT structuring and its implementation and returns submission to FTA. Identify potential methods to reduce tax liability of the Group.
• Liaise with Professionals: Coordination with Auditors (Ernst &Young) up to the finalization of audit report. Handling professional consultants during due diligence assignment. Liaise with federal tax authority (FTA), Banking / Non-Banking financial institutions for transactional level and commercial loans.
Key Achievements:
• Coordinated with concerned departments and played a key role on successful implementation of ERP (SAP-B1) pre-implementation and post- implementation procedures.
The Company is one of the leading logistics companies having its offices in China, Zambia, Tanzania, UK and has its sister concern (involved in trading construction materials) and Head Office is based in Dubai.
• Develop and maintain internal control reporting system. Prepare financial and consolidated financial statements as per IFRS, Analyzing reports, Supporting schedules, Cash flow forecasting, Working Capital management, Cost Management. Ensure timely reporting from overseas branches in China and Africa and its sister concern and assure its accuracy and completeness.
• Liaise with external auditors during annual audit, Banking and Non-Banking financial institutions for day to day operations, L/C matters, L/C documentation, Insurance and other trade facilities.
Key Achievements:
• Boosted group profitability by 25% through shut down analysis by discontinuing loss generating units. Slashed overall expenses by 30% during capacity utilization of the resources. Improved and maintained current ratio up to 20% by using working capital management tools.
I have been involved in audit and assurance of different sectors and finalize multinational giants on supervision level like NISSAN, G4S and LG. Sectors including Banking and Non-Banking financial institution, Textile, Automobile, Electronics, Pharmaceutical, Education and FMCG/Food products. Tasks performed:
• Audit planning and execution in accordance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA). Business and audit risk identification and mitigating factors covering such risks. Identification of internal control weaknesses and making appropriate recommendations. Preparation of financial statements in accordance with IAS/IFRS and local laws.
• Reviewed audit, accounting and reporting issues with the engagement members and report to assurance partner. Develop Management letters and propose solutions. Reviewed taxation matters including computation of taxation, tax returns in accordance with taxation laws and regulations.
