The job responsibilities as Senior Manager Outstation Finance include:
1. Accounts related:
i) Plan, organize, direct and control the activities of all Financial Controllers/Finance Managers/Regional Finance Managers at outstations
ii) Continuous review of accounting data to enhance accounting standards. Ensure that accounting reports are prepared and sent to Head office in prescribed formats
iii) Implementation of Oracle 11i business suite at outstations. Played a key role in implementation of Oracle 11i business suite for over 60 stations (on line + offline)
iv) Explore the areas of automation in all areas of work
v) Credit control
2. Staff Related:
i) Exercise effective management of the department’s staff. Selection of staff, organizing induction and training programs
ii) Guide and motivate staff to achieve company objectives
iii) Monitor the performance of staff in the department and their suitability for the position
3. Internal Audit and External Audit
i) Liaise with Internal Auditors during pre-audit stage and Implement the audit recommendations made in the audit reports and work towards enhancing audit rating
ii) Co-ordinate with external auditors in providing information relating to stations and implement their recommendations
4. Budgets:
i) Prepare annual plans and budgets (capital and operating) for the department at Head Office. Budget holder for the Finance departments budgets at outstations
ii) Monitor variances against the approved budgets
5. Co-ordination:
Liaise with various departments at HDQ in the matters relating to stations - Opening or closing of stations, rolling out of new systems at the station, resolving issues between stations and other departments at HDQ
Functioning as In-charge of parent company having investments in various subsidiaries, associates and its own divisions.
Responsible for finance and accounts few major divisions.
Group Level
Dealing:-
oWith the joint ventures, subsidiaries and associate companies in connection with banking arrangements.
oClosely with the banks for the financing requirements of the group in general and projects in specific Dealt with leading banks like HSBC, Standard Chartered, Bank of Bahrain and Kuwait, Ahli United etc.
oInsurance - Insurance arrangements for the group and projects. Dealt with major insurance companies such as BKIC, Takaful, Norwich Union and Gulf Union.
Setting up accounting systems for the new projects and MIS.
Review of agreements with joint ventures
Preparing MIS - Monthly Management Accounts and MIS reports.
Supervising Finance & Accounts of parent company inclusive of consolidation of accounts
Played a key role in the IPO of Nass Group in 2005, worked closely with KPMG for due diligence audit and securities and Investment Company (SICO);
Participated in recruitment of finance staff.
Handling statutory audits of divisions, joint ventures and parent company.
Division Level
Functioned as In-charge of accounts and MIS of construction division, fabrication division, Ship repairing division, car rental division and few other divisions.
Incharge of Finance Functions of Chennai Manufacturing Unit of multi-national giant Asea Brown Boveri. ABB has many mnaufacturing units across India and Chennai was one of them. My role included the following
a) In charge of Finance and Accounts function of the Unit
b) Preparation of Financial statements of the unit and reporting to both CFO for India and adhering to global reporting requirements.
c) Payroll Processing and personal taxation matters.
d) Sales tax and Excise duty matters
e) Banking
f) Part of Management Team in negotiating union agreement with workers.
Heading the Accounts department of a medium scale manufacturing unit belonging to a leading business Groups in India - Kirloskar Group. The duties included
a) Managing finance functions of the company with a group of 10 staff.
b) Incharge of implementation and streamlining of accounting system.
c) Ensuring monthly closing of accounts and reporting.
d) Credit control Management
e) Sales Tax Matters
f) Excise Duty Matters
Senior Auditor incharge of audit assignments of Public Limited and Private limited companies.
Handling of income tax matters of clients
Partner in an associate firm carrying on consutancy and income tax matters.
Completed with high grades in first attempt
Having prepared for the course on my own, it was a pleasure to have cleared each group separately at every attempt with high marks.
