on a short term contract. Care Insurance Brokers sells insurance on behalf of the insurer and at the same time presents and advises clients on the best terms available on the market. Its income is derived from commission on premiums to be submitted to the insurer. Some policies offered include fire, motor Goods in transit, travel, professional indemnity, plant and equipment

Responsibilities;
•Preparation of bank reconciliation statements.
•Writing of cheques and apprehending for final authorization and checking signatories.
•Calculation of Care Insurance commission income and calculating of premiums to be submitted to insurers and processing of their relevant payments.
•Calculation of Statutory payments (NSSA, ZIMDEF, PAYE, IPEC etc)and processing of relevant payments.
•Preparing and updating of the Debtors and Creditors Age Analysis and submitting it weekly to senior management.
•Receipting of cash and bank payments from the Insured (policy holder).
•Banking of cash takings from policy holders.
•Responsible for petty cash transactions and custody of the petty cash duties included;
•Withdrawal of petty cash from the bank account.
•Processing petty cash payments.
•Storage of the petty cash file and relevant filing.
•Preparation of the Advance Board for reviewing by Finance Manager and approval before payments were done to the insurer.
•Monitoring of the Bank account balance e.g. facilitating funding from senior management if needed, investigation of irregularities and amending them through the banker.

Final Audits
•Obtained audit evidence using audit programmers’ designed by AMG Global to fulfill related assertions (cut-off, completeness, existence, valuation, rights and obligations, presentation and disclosure, occurrence, accuracy)

•Vouching of source documents to the ledger and from the ledger to the source document when collecting audit evidence and documenting audit findings on working papers.
•Preparing, sending and collecting bank confirmation requests of a client’s foreign and local bank to obtain evidence of the bank balance presented on the Financial Statements.
•For debtors and creditors that were material was responsible for preparing related confirmations.
•Procedures preformed also included;
•Tests of Control; checking on the suitability of design and effective operation of the accounting and internal control systems and their operation throughout the period under review.
•Substantive Procedures; obtaining audit evidence to detect material misstatements e.g. vouching, analytical procedure performance, inspecting opening balances, recalculations, ratio analysis etc and recording findings on working papers.
•Responsible for custody of the audit file and clearing of the supervisors queries.
Interim Audits
•Mainly obtained evidence on the accuracy and effective operation of the accounting and internal control systems designed by management.

•Recorded on audit working papers the procedures that occurred before a transaction and tested for compliance.
•Internal controls tested for included segregation of duties, physical controls, information processing controls, operating review controls and reporting controls.
Year end stock counts
•Observed counting of inventory every year end to verify physical existence of inventory to be disclosed on the Financial Statements.
•Counting of cash in hand to be included on the cash and cash equivalents section of the balance sheet and obtaining petty cash declarations.
•Recording cut off dates for invoices credit note books and GRNs.
•Performed tests of controls on the inventory control system designed by management and inspected for compliance.
•Selecting inventory in warehouse and tracing it to clients accounting system and back to the warehouse.
•Obtained evidence of inventory under consignment with the consignee to confirm the amount if material.
•Was responsible for reconciling all variances recorded before leaving client premises.
