Perform the first line of assessment in the emergency room setting and collect crucial initial data: chief complaint, vital signs, history and neurologic assessment findings as a Triage nurse upon patients’ arrival, determine the severity of injuries, manage the order of patient care and anticipate the needs of the entire emergency room. This requires decisive thinking, resolute judgment and a working knowledge of a five-level triage system to rank and evaluate patients using the Canadian Emergency Department Triage and Acuity Scale.
Observe emergency cases immediately, calling Emergency Department doctor and should give the professional duty priority over clerical and written works in emergency cases.
Demonstrate competence in Cardiopulmonary resuscitation as a Resuscitation Nurse
Exhibit proficient skills as a Trauma Nurse.
Carry out instructions and orders for the plan of care for the patient according to Emergency Department doctors' or doctors of other departments as referred by ED doctors as the case requires.
Prepare and accompany patients from Emergency Department to inpatient area or other departments in the hospital and escort patient and significant others in hospital conduction to other institutions as Ambulance Nurse according to policy.
Establish a maintained good rapport with working colleagues, maintain good professional relationship with patients and relatives and comply with duties assigned by Emergency Department chief, head nurse and nurse in-charge.
Follow the infection control policy and all policies regarding Emergency Department for quality improvement of care; help motivate and educate co-staff as Infection Control F.R.I.E.N.D.S. or liaison officer to Infection Control Department.

Takes the patients vitals such as weight, temperature, cardiac rate, respiratory rate and blood pressure and records information to give to the attending physician.
Remains calm during tense situations and offers comfort to patients that may be experiencing symptoms of shock. Long work hours are a part of the job.
Responsible for carrying out the care plan the doctor prescribes, administers medications or injects shots, explains any discharge instructions to the family and patient, and prepares them to take over care at home.
