I was assigned to lead the procurement department (direct & indirect procurement) starting from September 2013. Main responsibilities are;
• Managing and directing a staff of two, involved in the buying aspects of the company to ensure proper support coverage and adherence to company policy and procedures.
• Negotiating favorable terms, volume discounts, and contracts with suppliers for the procurement of goods, packaging materials, services, and raw materials with domestic and international suppliers and implement new suppliers in case needed.
• Investigating and resolving defects and delivery problems with suppliers and negotiating refunds.
• Coordinating with planning, logistics, maintenance, and other support functions to ensure proper scheduling and movement of goods and supplies, and the completion of any needed services.
• Managing a budget of 35 Million Euros / year, with approximately 500 sKUs.
• Creating purchase orders for raw materials as well as finished goods and liaising with suppliers for timely receipt of materials.
• Ensuring that the stock level of the finished goods are in the acceptable range in order not to increase the OWC of the company. Oversee inventory control, logistics, and product usage forecasting to maintain inventory levels and minimizing waste.
• Keeping the price of the raw materials up to date on the SAP system in order for the company management team to make an efficient cost calculation.
• Reconciliations with the key suppliers.
• Supplier evaluations.
I was assigned as the person in charge of ICD (Intercompany Deliveries, Sales and Procurement), which became a brand new department under Supply Chain Management. ICD sales, which is the 15% of whole sales of Akzo Nobel Boya A.S., play a key role for our company to reach its financial goals at the year end. Main responsibilities are;
• To reach the ICD sales goals in year basis.
• Procurement of finished goods from Europe West region, including the responsibility to keep the safety stock levels and inventory management of them.
• ICD pricing and ICD customer claims.
• To search for some low priced obsolete products which have a good sale potential in the domestic market, from other Akzo Nobel factories in the world, negotiate for the best price and import them to support the sales department on our company’s sales target.
• Negotiating for transportation and reducing the transportation costs.
• Sales activities of the obsolete products which are in Turkish origin, to ICD customers.
• Waste powder coatings sales to some Non - ICD customers
• Between December ’05 and May ‘08, I worked as a Logistics Responsible for the domestic market. I was responsible for tracking the orders of domestic customers. Create delivery notes and invoices and sharing information with Production Planning for on time production and delivery to customer. In addition, I was in charge of the goods which were returned by distributors and internal customers during the month and collecting all the documents needed, before the month closure. Coordinating and planning the goods which must be brought to Aegean Free Zone from the central warehouse for various reasons.
• Between May ’08 and December ‘10, I was responsible for procurement of finished goods from Europe West. In addition, I was responsible for organizing the export operations between Akzo Nobel Turkey and Akzo Nobel factories in EMEIA and Europe West and also for some direct export customers.
