(I) Education City Stadium “The Diamond in the Desert”
Education City (ex-Qatar Foundation) stadium and precinct is a construction program comprising a 40, 000 seats FIFA compliant Stadium, that will host matches up to Quarter finals during FIFA 2022™ World cup and will host the FIFA Club championship final and semi-finals in December 2019. The program comprises two underground Multipurpose and Aquatic pavilions. The stadium is fully air conditioned FOP and stands to meet FIFA performance criteria.
The 200, 000 sqm GFA stadium includes Legacy areas for Qatar Foundation post tournament use, such as a multi storey Health club, Retail spaces, Conference centre and Educational facilities to serve QF and the wider Qatari community.
The stadium is considered the second biggest in the program after the Lusail stadium (Final) and is designed in 3 modes of operation (Base-build, Tournament and Legacy) as the capacity is planned to be reduced to 25, 000 seats in Legacy with the dismantling and donation of the upper demountable tiers.
The precinct Tournament Overlay design is developed to fully comply with FIFA requirements in terms of crowd movement, transportation, accessibility, security and tournament requirements for various constitutional groups and is currently the only stadium within the programme that has attained a Sustainability rating of GSAS 5 Stars
Roles and Responsibilities for the position include the following:
- Reporting to ASTAD COO (Chief Operating Officer).
- Design management of the initial (2013) and revised design in 2014 following the first FIFA review of the design, by leading the design management team of international designers and consultants. (FIA Madrid, ARUP Madrid, ARUP UK, ICSS, White Yong Qatar)
- Tender management, negotiation and Contract Award in 2015/2016.
- Leading the Construction phase of the project starting August 2016. Completion date for the stadium is now projected October 2019 and the whole of the works in February 2020. ASTAD’s Project Management, Construction Management and Construction supervision teams under my leadership has reached 60 staff, at peak
- Interface management with FIFA and various external, internal stakeholders.
- Supporting SCDL in Tournament documentation and compliance with FIFA.
(II) Doha Port Development Projects (starting January 2020)
A mega development that is a major contribution to Doha water front and water sports in line with Qatar futuristic Hospitality vision.
Site covers approx. 76 hectars of land.
During 2022 FIFA World cup, it is anticipated that Doha port will receive large cruise ships that will carry over 22, 000 passengers
Main construction packages:
The Grand Terminal which is a rectangular building comprising two terminals, a City gallery, an Aquarium, parking facilities, panoramic restaurants and a Botanic garden.
The Mina district & Sea water diving pool include 37 buildings with a fish market and 2 podiums for multi-use facilities. The SWDP is a 55m deep sea water pool with associated facilities that will be the deepest in the World. Other packages include: Garden district, Street scape and soft landscape, floating walkways, quay walls repair, substation and facility building.
My Role as a Program director is to manage the 18 projects and packages, to ensure benefits to the Employer, timely delivery and meeting stakeholders and port authorities’ requirements.
Managing and leading a team of consultants and Project managers throughout the design and construction phases, to deliver the Project to the specified quality and within the anticipated budget cost and scheduled time. There are 3 main consultants involved: Project managers RW Armstrong (USA), having a team of 8 staff, The Building Design & supervision consultant, Crang and Boake (Canada) having a team of +25 Engineers and inspectors, Infrastructure consultants Dar Al Handassa (Lebanon)& Dr. Ali Al Sae (Egypt) having a team of +20 engineers.
Managing Project's stakeholders.
Liaising and communicating with local authorities and their respective consultants and putting into force MoUs with Abu Dhabi respective authorities for securing full reimbursement of all Infrastructure construction costs.
Manage, motivate and lead a team of 35, comprising construction managers, engineers, architects and administrative personnel.
Liaise with Developer, Consultant Design team in Qatar, Contractor’s Project Director and Commercial Consultant.
Liaise and communicate with local authorities and their consultants.
Assist Developer’s Facilities Management team with maintenance and defects close out of handed over assets.
Adhere to GHD’s Quality and OCHS plans
Projects manager responsible for multiple projects in Upper Egypt and the North coast.
Main duties included, but not limited to:
Establishing project delivery strategy and developing job plans, securing resources.
Leading a team of Construction managers.
Monitoring performance of projects.
Cost & time control of Projects
Preparing, reviewing contract documents and Bid Analysis
Projects manager responsible for multiple projects in Upper Egypt and the North coast.
Main duties included, but not limited to:
