I am Dr. Yassine YAHIA, completed my Doctoral Degree in University of Manar-Tunis (Tunisia) and have working experience as contractual assistant Higher Institute of Applied Biology of Medenine for 2 years (2015-2017), also 1 year as post-doctoral position in USTC (2017-2018) University of Science and Technology of China (Hefei, Anhui) and the supervisor of the project “sustainable management of oasis Eco-systems in Tunisia (Oasis of south of Tunisia) in the framework” from 2018 to 2021. My academic experience began in 2010 as a “researcher assistant” at the Arid Land Institute (IRA of Medenine) for three years (2010, 2011 and 2012). I was working as postdoctoral in the university of Wisconsin (UW) in USA involved in “The Cucumber Genetics, Genomics and Breeding project” in Y. Weng Laboratory” which is part of the USDA ARS Vegetable Crops Research Unit (VCRU) in the Horticulture Department at the University of Wisconsin – Madison. I have worked as co-author and published more than 4 report project, 20 scientific papers, peer reviewed journal articles (10) and presentations in scientific conferences. My research work is mainly focused on: - The assessment of the genetic diversity of populations of Vicia faba L. growing in arid regions of Tunisia: The use of SSRs and RAPDs DNA markers for the analysis of genetic diversity in Vicia faba L. - Analyze the phenotype of mutants of Medicago truncatula L. (model plant of legumes) with altered inflorescence architecture: The use of RT-PCR-based AFLP markers to identify genes with transposon insertion in Medicago truncatula L. mutants. - At the University of Science and Technology of China (Hefei, Anhui), I was focused on Cell and Molecular Biology field (Mitochondrial dynamics): I have mastered molecular, cell biological, biochemical, and genetic techniques required for the work in lab, and I have helped the mitochondria team to generate a large number of plasmids, produce recombinant proteins, and create strains. - Supervising of the project of sustainable management of oasis Eco-systems in Tunisia (Oasis of Gabes) in the framework (2018-2021). - From October 2021 to August 2022, I was conducting, with Professor Weng Y, research to identify quantitative trait loci (QTL) in cucumber germplasm using genome-wide association analysis focusing on fruit flavor quality-related traits. The research involves growing diverse cucumber collections in both greenhouse and field trails to collect data, and at the same time conduct bioinformatic analysis of sequencing data for association analysis. I am still attached to Pr Yiqun Weng's lab at the university of Madison-Wisconsin for online work and a future project. - Now, I have been working as a project manager at the Erasmus+ office of Tunisia since January for a two-year contract renewable according to the agreement with the Tunisian Ministry of Higher Education.
