Assistant Manager-Incharge Trade Finance
Supervising an Import portfolio over PKR: 6.800 Billion of the various sectors, which is the largest portfolio of single branch throughout bank. A brief overview of work supervised is as under:-
• Establishment of import Inland/Foreign letters of credit and their amendments.
• Redemption/extension of expired Letters of credit.
• Registration, amendments and payments of import contracts.
• Payment against Letter of Credit/on collection basis/Advance Payment Import.
• Issuance of Shipping Guarantees/endorsement of shipping documents against 100% cash margin/duly accepted bill of exchange.
• Advising of export letters of credit and arranging of approval from competent authorities regarding adding confirmation to export letter of credit.
• Lodgment/Realization of Local/Foreign Documentary Bills for collection.
• Handle advance payment exports
• Disbursement/Adjustment of Pre-shipment Finance Facility cases Under State Bank of Pakistan scheme of Export Refinance (ERF-I)
• Monthly reporting of foreign exchange transaction to State Bank of Pakistan in Monthly Foreign Exchange Returns, Periodical reporting to Head Office, Regional Office and Area Office.
• Supervision of the departmental staff for effective implementation of bank’s policies.
• Liaison/coordination with customers for effective implementation of bank’s policies.
• Maintenance of record as per Standard Operating Procedures of the bank.
• Liaison with State Bank of Pakistan Rawalpindi regarding approval of various Trade Finance related transaction as and when required.
• Creation/Adjustment of forced funded facilities. i.e. Own Acceptance Purchased, Payment against documents, Finance against Trust Receipt..
• Liaison with State Bank of Pakistan regarding e-payment of tax with-held under section 152, 153 of income tax ordinance 2001.
• Liaison with Regional Credit Administration department regarding feeding of Limits for opening of LC’s, Creation of OAPs, PADs, FATRs and FIM.
• Liaison with Treasury Division for negotiation of foreign exchange rates.
• Monthly reporting of overdue liabilities to respective controlling office.
• Registration/Management of Portfolio of Foreign Private Loan and their repatriation.
• Registration of Shares/Equity in favor of Non-Resident on Repatriable basis with State Bank of Pakistan Karachi.
Assistant Manager - Guarantee Department Jan 07 to June 07
Work assignment included
• Liaison with International Division/Legal Administration Department for arranging necessary approvals for
issuance/extension in bid bonds, performance bonds, advance payment guarantees, back to back Guarantees.
• Preparation of periodical reports.
• Serving notices for redemption/extension of expired guarantees.
Officer Grade-II -Operations May 05 to Dec 06
Joined the institution as Officer Grade-II at Jinnah Avenue branch Islamabad. Initial assignment was to be a part of
Operations Department. Worked for almost one and half years in various departments such as Inland Remittance, ATM/Debit Cards, Clearing, Deposits, Cancellationaccount opening and foreign exchange.
Managed the operation of the branch which included the following:-
• Supervising day to day transactions i.e. Cash deposits, withdrawals, opening of bank accounts, making Call Deposit Receipts, Demand Drafts, Pay Orders, SNTD's, Mail transfer, Telegraphic Transfer etc.
• Looking after the accounts department of the branch (Disbursement of Staff Salaries, Fixed Asset Cost/Depreciation, HR issues related to Staff etc)
• Core-banking System Administration
• Assisting Agricultural Credit Officer in daily work assigned
• Monthly/Fortnightly/Weekly Reporting to Area Office/Regional Office/Head Office
Completed Master degree with 82% marks securing A grades in 15 subjects out of 23. Major Course work included Business Finance, Taxation Policy, Managerial Accounting, and Cost Accounting, Management Information System and Investment and Portfolio Management.
Completed Bachelor Degree with 69.15% marks and secured 1st position in Sargodha division including winning a scholarship. Course work included Auditing/Accounting/Banking & Finance.
Completed the Diploma with 78.57% marks and secured 4th position in Punjab Board Of Technical Education as well as 1st position in Sargodha Division. Course work included Accounting.
