SUTPC is one of the most professional urban transportation research institutions in China. For this role, I can be a project manager to tackle complex transportation problems. My role has involved complete research, analysing data, generate an evaluate options to identify solutions for client. Throughout this year I have been involved in a range of transport projects including integrated transport planning, bus planning, freight planning, active transport planning, TOD and transport policy. The key skills I have developed and gained throughout this role are as follows: project management, proposal support, transport and data modelling and data visualisation.
This active transport planning project focused on the secondary and branch road. I was the secondary manager for this project and my responsibilities included analysing active travel data, scheme planning and creating a detailed
street plan. Our project scheme is divided the districts up by their demand, e.g. living district, business district, shopping district, landscape district and transport district. According to different levels of demand we proposed a
variety planning measures for to each specific need. For example, in the living district, we proposed pedestrian priority schemes pedestrians and traffic calming measures. For the primary school area, we proposed a designated waiting area for the parents. The key skills I have utilised and developed on this project are data analysis, transport planning, and communication.
Yiwu is a county-level city located in zhejiang province, China. The city has about 1.2 million people and famous as a commodities centre. This is a project is aim for slove the decresing issures of public transport sharing rate. Focus on the special industry, we provide suiable bus route planning scheme matching the citizens’ traffic demand. My
responsbility of this project is collecting, analysising, visualising data and pepare presentation slide to client. The key skills I have utilised and developed during this project are transport modelling, transport planning GIS, data
visualisation and analysis.
During my master’s degree, I gained experience using both macro and micro transport modelling software. I also used Saturn and Dracula to analyse traffic problems and develop solutions. Additionally, I gained spatial planning and analysis experience and during one of my modules I used GIS to research how price and location affects Park and Ride sites. Furthermore, I also improved my report writing and presentation throughout the year. My dissertation is Visualising Transport Data.This study focused on visualising transport emission data. This study made use of R studio and packages such as ggplot2 to create emission infographics. The key skills I learnt during this piece of work were computer programming (R language and R studio), data analysis, presentation delivery and report writing skills. During my work life, I use my visualisation skills to help others speed up their analysis data. Furthermore, I am also responsible for 90% of the visualisation work in my department.
