Duties & Responsibilities:
1. Project Execution and Supervision
• Supervise on-site construction activities related to hydropower infrastructure, including dams, intake structures, headrace tunnels, surge shafts, penstocks, powerhouse buildings, and tailrace channels.
• Coordinate and manage workforce, subcontractors, and construction equipment to ensure progress aligns with project timelines.
• Monitor daily site operations and ensure construction activities comply with technical specifications, environmental guidelines, and hydropower project standards.
2. Technical Support
• Interpret technical drawings, hydraulic and structural designs, and specifications specific to hydropower projects.
• Provide engineering solutions on-site for challenges such as rock excavation, tunneling, high-pressure systems, and water diversion.
• Assist in setting out and surveying works such as turbine foundations, generator halls, pressure shafts, and mechanical-electrical (M&E) installations.
3. Quality Assurance and Control
• Ensure all construction work meets the required quality standards, especially for high-pressure components and reinforced structures.
• Conduct inspections and material tests for concrete, steel, welding, grouting, and waterproofing systems.
• Maintain accurate QA/QC documentation including material test reports, inspection records, and non-compliance logs.
4. Documentation and Reporting
• Maintain detailed records of construction progress, manpower, material usage, and site activities.
• Submit regular site progress reports and technical updates to project management and client representatives.
• Assist in the preparation of Interim Payment Certificates (IPC), work measurement records, and construction claims.
5. Coordination and Communication
• Act as the main technical liaison between site teams, design engineers, mechanical-electrical teams, and commissioning teams.
• Coordinate with consultants, turbine and generator suppliers, civil and MEP contractors, and local authorities.
• Organize logistics for the delivery and installation of large-scale hydropower components such as turbines, transformers, and penstocks.
6. Safety Compliance
• Enforce site safety protocols, especially in high-risk zones like tunnels, shafts, and areas under heavy lifting operations.
• Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks with site personnel, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and PPE use.
• Identify potential safety hazards such as flooding risks, confined spaces, and high-voltage zones, and implement corrective actions.
7. Material and Resource Management
• Inspect delivery and usage of specialized materials like turbine components, control systems, concrete additives, and steel structures.
• Monitor material inventory and equipment use to minimize waste and optimize efficiency.
• Ensure availability of essential tools, spare parts, and machinery for uninterrupted construction and installation activities.
8. Cost and Time Management
• Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and control budgets for hydropower-specific components.
• Track project schedules for civil, mechanical, and electrical phases to identify delays and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Propose cost-saving methods and productivity improvements for faster and more efficient project delivery.
