The project is 40% owned by ACWA Power, 40% by KEPCO and the remaining 20% by the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC). ACWA Power leads the project being management shareholder.
With USD 2.5 billion of funding consisting of Conventional and Islamic debts and a mix of equity, the project was being developed as a new power plant. Project has been refinanced in June 2016 at significantly improved terms in favor of the Project Company. Renowned local and international financial institutions participated as refinancing lenders’ group.
Project provides power to the SEC under a 20-year Power Purchase Agreement ("PPA").
