Project Engineer (Apr-11 to to-date) Track Department, Infrastructure Division, Metro Trains Melbourne

Responsibilities
• Review of permanent way design and coordinate with consultants from concept level to detailed design for new project on behalf of Metro Track department
• Coordinate with contractors regarding design issues, contract administration, project planning and resource management
• Coordinate with Electrical and Signal department with regards to integrated works packages
• Developing scope of Renewal/Project works, financial plans and delivery program for rehabilitation for construction of operational assets
• Develop Weld and Rail Restressing strategy for summer weather, Verse testing and creep management
• Investigate and develop effective track design solutions to applicable standards
• Develop plan to remove track geometry faults based on Track Recorder inspection Car data including Twist, Top, Gauge and Cant faults. Based on faults assessment assist in the implementation and creation of the tamping and re-surfacing program, Resleepering and Ballast/formation rehabilitation program
• Responsible for underground structure gauging relevant to track and clearance within the kinematic envelope and work with Overhead Department to ensure heights and staggers are mitigated
• Identifying safety and operational critical assets by using Performance and Condition monitoring Data and Implementing Risk based maintenance and renewal works derived from MTM Asset Management strategy based on BSI:PASS 55 operational requirements
• Taking over the newly constructed assets after formalised handing over/taking over process and their inclusion into Asset database and inspection regime

Worked with VSL Australia Pty Ltd as Site Engineer
Responsibilities: - Responsible for design management, construction, completion of the works and commissioning for ETA Tertiary upgrade project, Melbourne water (Precast structural components for water treatment plant)
- Accountable for time, cost and quality outcomes
- Interfacing with all stakeholders, Local Councils, Service Authorities, Community Groups, EPA, Work cover and Unions
- Coordinating with construction team in developing Inspection and Testing Plans (ITPs) and Project Quality Plans for the following and upcoming projects
- Performed scheduled Internal audits for the Quality plan and construction at precast yard
- Organised Quality and Safety inspections and developing QA/OHS action plans to improve the operational control within the organisation as required by ISO 9001 and Australian Standard 4801
- Coordinated with consultant and main contractor regarding project related matters including project planning, design issues, resource management to complete the construction works in the stipulated time frame
- Preparation of Risk Assessment and Safe Work Method Statements for construction utilities and operations in VSL

Project completed as Project Engineer:
1. Centre Road improvement Project, Melbourne Airport
- Cost of the project: $1.1 million, Location of the project: East of Melbourne Airport Terminal building
- Details of stake-holders of the project: (Client: Melbourne Airport, Designer: Hyder Engineers, Technical supervisor: BECA)
2. Tullamarine Freeway Project, Melbourne Airport
- Cost of the project: $2.3 million, Location of the project: Terminal Drive (Exit lane of Tullamarine Freeway)
- Details of stake-holders of the project: (Client: Melbourne Airport, Designer: BECA, Technical supervisor: Insite-3, Project Handed-over to Vic Roads)
I performed following duties for the above mentioned projects.
- I was responsible for raising any technical short-comings in the project design using the following process.
- I used to send RFI (Request of information) through Aconex (a system which is used for all sort of official correspondence and documents transmittal) explaining any technical issues raised on site and suggesting the possible solutions so that Melbourne Airport could get technical approval from BECA. After this process of approval for changing in the design the details of all these required changes were sent to Hydel so that they might change the design accordingly. Weekly site meetings were a forum for discussion and approval of any technical RFIs.
- I developed Inspection and Testing Plans for the projects according to project specifications and monitored the quality of our own and sub-contractor work.
- I Prepared Quality control documents, Safe Work Method Statements and OHS documentation for the projects according to project specifications, current Commonwealth and State legislations and Code of practices (including Work Safe)
- I Supervised the Occupational Health and Safety, Environment and quality issues during the construction work

08/2007 to 07/2008
Worked in Pakistan Public Works Department, Ministry of Housing and Works, Government of Pakistan as Assistant Executive Engineer at Sheikh-Zaid Hospital building extension project, Lahore.

Responsibilities: - Structure Analysis of existing building for its suitability for extension as it was raised from two storey to three storey
- Performed liaising with the consultants and contractors regarding design issues, construction methods, project programmes and cost issues
- Managed financial matters of the project including Contractor's claims and variations and project's running cost
- Supervised the quality of construction work and ensured that the executed work was complied with project specifications, drawings and contract.

06/2006 to 04/2007
Worked in National Engineering Services Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd. (NESPAK) as Assistant Resident Engineer on "Lahore Ring Road Project- Package 06."
Responsibilities: - Supervised the road works which was 3Km in length consisting of 6 lanes, RCC Utility and pipe Culverts underneath the road and RCC drainage along the road.
- Coordinated with client and contractor regarding project specific issues like provision of drawings, design, variations and project costing
- Supervised the construction works of Road (Sub-grade, Crush rock, CTCR, Asphaltic Base course, Wearing course and allied activities)

03/2003 to 06/2006
Worked in Reinforced Earth (Pvt.) Ltd A Freyssinet Int'l Subsidiary as Site Engineer at "Lyari Expressway Project, Karachi".
Responsibilities: - Coordinated with consultant and main contractor regarding project related matters including project planning, design issues, resource management to complete the construction works in the stipulated time frame.
- Organised the production and installation of R.C.C. Panels including making of bar bending schedules for steel to be used in R.C.C. Panels, Concrete work having different mix design of RCC panels attaining required compressive strengths and Installation of these panels with machinery like cranes and loaders on specified positions as mentioned in construction drawings
- Applied the contract documents and construction drawings for various types of construction activities
