Responsible for Identifying and analysing fundamental competitive strengths and weaknesses of new business initiatives which are targeted to facilitate the trade of commodities in Dubai.

• Co-organised and promoted various DMCC initiatives including the Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE), Dubai Precious Metals Conference (DPMC), Dubai Diamond Conference (DDC) and the Dubai food trade group.
• Analyse and advise senior management on the implications of various socio economic and political policies that affect DMCC and the trade of commodities.
• Research, understand and add substance to DMCC’s knowledge of physical commodities that are traded through Dubai, which include Food and Cash crops, Gold, Diamond, other Precious metals, Steel and Oil.
• Produce relevant robust analysis, scientific papers, policy briefs, commodity trade statistics, market reports and newsletters using primary and secondary data in order to create awareness and new strategies.
• Led the research and supported in the project design of the DMCC “Africa passport project”. This is a 5 year project that aims at improving bilateral trade between selected African countries and Dubai.
• Built a financial model to forecast the cost and net income/loss of operating gold bullion ATM machines across the UAE. The model helped to save DMCC an annual fixed cost of US$ 200, 000.

Strategic Initiatives team – Project Management Analyst at General Electric

Successfully completed strategic business development projects and ERP implementations across the Middle East and Africa to support the breakthrough into new markets, standardise processes and enhance controllership.

• Co-led the research project to analyse GE’s business portfolios (Aviation, Oil & Gas, Healthcare, and Power & Water) and how they can contribute to Food Security in MEA. The findings and recommendations were used for the MEA region “Go-to-market” strategy.
• Implemented the Financial Modules of Navision/Microsoft Dynamics for GE legal entities in 7 countries in the MEA region to create a common regional system, resulting in better transparency, enhanced controllership and reduced US GAAP and local compliance risks.
• Audited and mapped account balances of GE’s legal entity ledgers in MEA to ensure they tied in all operating systems by reporting currency (USD) and local currency in order to eliminate reporting discrepancies.
• Worked with a team of 4 to review and add 100% (1, 700) of the MEA vendors to the Global Supplier List to ensure the vendors adhered to GE’s compliance standards. In addition, this provided the procurement team with accurate information on supplier spend in the region and supported future negotiations with suppliers.
