The PhD is specialized in Social Media Management in the organizations. Following is a brief summary of the work I’ve been involved in
• Performed a thorough review of work published in the domain of social media and organizations. From the review I defined the holistic view of Social Business by categorizing it in four dimensions: Perception, Adoption, Use and Management. Further on I provided in-depth analysis for each dimension and suggested a “Social Business Activity Cycle” which explains how Social Business is adopted and implemented in an organization
• From my list of 70+ tools I performed an in depth audit review for 31 tools concerned with social media monitoring, analytics and management to define the current understanding of what a state of the art Social Media Management tool should like. The review was done in terms of what basic action taking possibilities they provide to the managers and what meaning making opportunities do the managers have from these possibilities. I derived 4 main functionalities of a social media management tool and then identified 27 distinct features that these tools provide.
• Complied a study that involved interviews with some major brands in Copenhagen (i.e. Telenor, Aller Media etc.) on understanding how the social media is implemented, executed and managed in these organizations. The focus of the interviews was the role a social media management tool plays for a manager to successfully manage their reorganization’s footstep in social media. The tensions of expectations from the tools in terms of the ROI, analytics, processing of big data, platform compatibility etc. were discussed in detail.
• Analysis of the survey data collected from 150 organizations on the use of Social Media, Mobile and cloud. This project was lead by Social Semantic EU and was published as “Networked Business Factbook” in 2013.
