Providing expertise in the elicitation of capability,
systems, sub system and component requirements from sponsor needs. Capture requirements and trace to verification and validation test plans. Liaise with all subject matter experts to develop design specifications. Ensure the business is adhering to processes. Advise, guide and train teams on effective systems engineering best practices.
• Working with the front-end Requirements Engineering teams to develop capability level requirements from sponsor needs for a Nuclear Waste Management facility.
• Interfacing with subject matter experts to mature requirements to a concept level.
• Ensuring adequate gap analysis is carried out to capture any ‘unspoken requirements.
• Ensuring requirements have adequate V&V coverage.
• Capturing requirements using client documented processes and tools.
• Adhering to client lifecycle development gateways.
• Reporting status of requirements development to higher tier project managers and sponsors.
• Keep all interfacing teams abreast of requirements baselines to carry forward into latter development phases.
• Coaching teams in the deployment of effective systems engineering technique and methods as prescribed by INCOSE.
• Extensively using IBM Rational DOORS to disaggregate sponsor requirements from the DFT into concept level requirements and System/Sub-System level requirements then linking these to delivery contracts for the Railway System.
• Common DOORS related tasks involved linking Parent and Child requirements for robust traceability. Developing analysis views and attributes to effectively identify gaps. Exporting analysis progress into KPI’s to report progress to Systems Integration Leads. Copying views across multiple modules. Managing and creating multiple baselines. Setting up and managing link set modules to aid traceability.
• Work to the HS2 Requirements Management Plan and any associated process and procedures throughout the HS2 Programme Lifecycle.
• Support the communication and understanding of the Requirements Management Plan throughout HS2 and check that the Requirements Management Plan is being implemented and participate in audits of this when necessary.
• Work within a robust and practical framework for capturing, disaggregating and disseminating requirements from a top-down perspective into the technical and delivery organisations.
• Responsible for delegated elements of the production and management of the project requirements in order to comply with external regulations and standards as well as meet the project objectives (outputs, timescale and cost)
• Engage with stakeholders and third parties in agreeing their technical requirements and acceptance activity.
• Assuring that all concepts had associated lower-level programme requirements are aligned.
• Managing any delta and gaps between concepts and programme requirements to ensure delivery contracts were accurate.
• Assuring that every system requirement was linked to V&V plans and evidence.

• Capturing and decomposing system and sub-systems requirements from Marketing needs.
• Cascading mechanical/electronics requirements to mechanical/electronics teams to assure designs satisfy needs.

• Acceptance testing schema developed to ensure each system and sub-system requirement was mapped to verification and validation workstreams.
• Working in partnership with Rolls Royce on their fleet of brand-new Nuclear-Powered Submarines.
• Primary experience in the left-hand side of the “V-Cycle” in capturing and managing requirements using IBM rational DOORS but have experience working the full life cycle.
• Performing user acceptance testing of customer technical requirements and specifications.
• Applying relevant technical standards against System requirements to frame and sanitise each requirement to ensure they are clear, concise, verifiable, and testable.
• Extensive experience in user acceptance testing of system level requirements and ensuring product objectives are being satisfied.
• Acting as the interface between the business and product managers and chief engineers.
