Worked for an European country analyst of a leading investment bank managing the research on a portfolio of stocks under coverage. Carried out initiation of new coverage for Retail sector by building valuation models and determining the value of the company using both absolute and relative valuation matrices on the back of detailed earnings forecast spreadsheets/models. Wrote detailed high conviction investment research reports on the companies under coverage by regularly carrying out industry research on macro/industry factors; management plus corporate strategies of key players in the industry and their SWOTs; and the company's performance potential.
Was responsible for financial and management accounting at Open World’s Sri Lankan, US and Asia Pacific offices including budgeting and cash flow planning; sales forecasts; performance analysis; and making information available to head office on a monthly basis. This included responsibility for the entire group’s invoicing, determining customer credit and client follow-up. Negotiated pricing and terms with suppliers, dealt with banks, Inland Revenue department and other local statutory bodies.
Was responsible for all financial and management accounting functions including making available financial information on a monthly basis for management reporting; budgeting and treasury management; and assessing fair value of investments. In addition, was required to evaluate financial feasibility, carry out due diligence, and valuation of new investment proposals. Post investment, involved in budgeting and variance analysis, revaluations and day-to-day financial monitoring to achieve cost reduction, tighter cash management, financial control to safeguard investment downside risks.
Handled the entire financial accounting functions. Assisted the management in business development and management control. Computerized the accounts department and assisted in the setting up of the invisible chalk agency of a South Korean supplier in Sri Lanka.
Initially assisted as a junior for some local and multinational audits and later was designated as a senior in charge. Worked in the auditing field to mainly gain insight into all the relevant areas of a financial audit.
Worked in the Contracts department and involved in administrative tasks including drafting contracts based on standard templates.
