I am a health and safety professional with extensive experience in industry gained in South Africa and the UAE over the past 20 years.
During this time, I have attained many safety qualifications such as NEBOSH, Health and Safety Management, Advanced Risk Management and IMS Lead Auditor.
I have also gained experience in multiple safety-related projects e.g. Lead role for Fire Safety awareness, involvement in SAP EHS launch and Vehicle Safety Protocol.
My time at Dubai Aluminium (Dubal) has given me further smelter experience in addition to working in the following departments: Fire and Security, Residential Area (Facilities), Maintenance and Power & Desalination.
• Analyse behavioural observations and highlight trends to management.
• Compile and maintain safety statistics for monthly reports.
• Train observers on behavioural safety observation technique. Provide guidance and coaching thereafter.
• Roll-out of behavioural safety process to all major contractors working at site.
• Lead/ participate in safety investigations using ICAM methodology.
• Roll-out of BHP Billiton’s Fatal Risk Control Protocols (training and implementation).
• Custodian (six sigma yellow belt) for safety projects in the Safety department.
• Manage the annual budget for the behavioural process.
• Conduct and review risk assessments.
• Conduct safety induction for new employees and contractors.
• Maintain ISO 9002, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 systems.

• Was the first operator plant-wide to complete the in-house management development program.
• Led various task teams for small projects. (e.g. Robotic stacker optimisation)
• Won suggestion award for best safety suggestion on ingot casting machine (activate alarm to warn operator when the ingot reject device is energised).
