Financial Services - Internship: Treasury, Risk Management & Investment
Overview of Role: I was assigned to rotate between three departments: treasury, risk management and investment (wealth management) in order to experience vital aspects of investment banking.
Work Undertaken: At treasury, I sat at three desks: flow, sales and proprietary. Here, my main responsibility was to follow clients’ orders finding a buyer/seller to match a held position; this was done by speaking to other investment banks direct or through inter-dealer brokers. In risk management, I was placed in a team in charge of analyzing market risk. The main purpose of wealth management was to understand the clients’ focus to find suitable funds to match their expectations.
